This is very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I think it's great that your H can make good money doing something he loves that isn't necessarily your traditional lucrative field (finance, etc.).

I don't have any questions for you. Actually I have one: is your new table in??
I think it's great you did this. H would love to see J. I thought we would pop into the city more, but with baby on the way and house renos, I haven't been in town in months?.
I think I know what your H does, and is this kind of income at all common or is he just an insane superstar?
I have been known to buy both on occasion, but I'm not carrying around a Birkin by any means. My priorities shifted post kiddo. Haven't really splurged on either since.
Thanks for answering all our nosy questions. This is a way better AMA than 99% of them. Sorry, GBCN-ers, but no one really wants to know "Where would you go on an all-expense paid vacation?" or "What do you wish you were drinking right now?"
We all want to know the actual interesting things, LOL. Take warning, anyone who starts an AMA from here on out. 212 set the bar high.
Oh god. Just enough for us to pay our bills (and I'm not talking shopping bills, yo), save, and send our kid to school. I miss him a ton. At this point now that we're not on the hook for a downpayment, I'd say we'd live quite happily on 250-300k. And I'd choose that in a heartbeat.
Do you think he ever will step back from working so much?
You may post about vacations, but does your h job allow for you to go on vacation together? Any exotic places? (I think this is what I'd spend my $$$$ on if time allows:)
What kind of things do you outsource? Cleaning lady, nanny, chauffeur, personal chef, lolol.
We HAD a part-time nanny, but she left us for greener (full time) pastures. We just got a cleaning lady today and that was pretty awesome. She's coming back next week!

That's all, folks.
Do you send little 212 to any type of preschool or anything? Because how do you manage otherwise!?
Very few-- close friends, immediate family. It's a weird job, so there isn't that expectation of big money, you know? We kind of like it that way. Many of our friends work in private equity or at a fund and you know when you say that sort of career people start counting your money.
have you read the Big Short and/or Liar's Poker? I have to say after reading those I have a bad taste in my mouth regarding Wall Street investment types (sorry @choco, lol)
I haven't. But I will add them to my list. That is seemingly what everyyyyyyone and their mother does here.

"I make slightly more than middle class according to that link posted on MM AMA". No? Ok, never mind.
I am middle-class, live in the midwest, am pretty average looking, slightly plump, drive a 5 year old car, and make less than all the teachers who complain about their pay! (sorry teachers, all in good fun). Who wants to AMA?
Thanks for posting this. I love that you are showing how you are just normal even with a big dog income. Do you think your ability to not be caught up in keeping up with other high earners is due to your upbringing or do you think you would be this way even if you had grown up as a trust fund kid?
EtA: I used the big dog term without reading the other thread. Doh! I was just referring to the old term on the nest. For some reason it feels weird to say rich or wealthy.

Yay for the housekeeper!
It is! And STOOLS! No more dining chairs at the counter! <)
OKay wait. I have a guess about what your H does. I won't post it, but I will say that I have a friend from law school who does it and travels all the time, goes to expensive restaurants, her lifestyle seems amazing. TBH I get a little tired/bitter of hearing about it on FB, but she's so nice and down to earth, and I do enjoy living vicariously through her. lol. I had no idea there was that kind of money in it, and because her parents are well off, I thought she was living off their dime. But then she had a client put her up in some fancy hotel for the weekend recently, and I was like "huh. I didn't know that happened."
This is probably all irrelevant rambling b/c I could be way off base.
