Not a ton going on here today. I'm making chili in the crock pot today and I didn't realize how much this recipe makes. We're going to have chili for daaaays.
Happy Tuesday! And happy first day of fall!
@sfgal530, how's Roo? I've been thinking about you guys and I hope he's ok.
I made it to 3:30 today before waking up! Slow and steady wins the race.
@uwhuskygirl, we went to the vet yesterday. The growth is basically the equivalent of a wart and should eventually fall off so we did nothing about it. I thought Rooney had a scratch on his face but it turns out that is mange, which should eventually heal as well but our poor little guy looks kind of rough! Still so cute though. It turns out both of these issues are common in younger dogs who often don't have fully-developed immune systems, so as a boost to his immune system (and for Lucas too) I literally just spent an obscene amount of money on all natural raw dog food because feeding raw is supposed to help a dog's immune system a lot. So we will see if that does help - I've been meaning to transition to raw but have been lazy about it so now I'm getting serious.
On the Tuesday front the dogs go back to daycare, I'm going to need a nap, and I want to get caught up around the house. I have someone coming to install a new fireplace front this afternoon and I ordered a customized dog bed for both Rooney and Lucas for our bedroom and those should arrive today so I am excitedly awaiting that delivery.
H goes back to work today and I think I am going to be really lonely! I'm used to having someone around. I guess this will leave way more time for GBCN though.
Have a good one all!
Betty's had raw for almost the entire time we've had her. IMO it's one of the best things we've ever done for her.

For those who don't know, someone hit and took out our fence back in July. We finally got it replaced yesterday, and today they're coming to paint it. I'm sooooo relieved to finally get this done!
Other than that, no real excitement here. I'm going to pick up some diapers in Queen Anne, but that's about it.
I found out our friends who are vacationing in Italy video called us last night after I went to sleep. H didn't wake me up. Damn old lady bedtime! He has orders to wake me up next time they call.
Nothing exciting today. I really need to get started on a deep clean of the house. 3 weeks till surgery and I am not going to want to be stuck in a messy house for 6 weeks.

I have a meeting in Kent this morning. Yay for the meeting, boo to driving to Kent. Birthday dinner with my bestie tonight. It'll be a long but fun day.
I'm still so tired from the three day. I'm glad I don't have to walk all day at work.
Can I just say, I really really really love Din Tai Fung? Like really love. Went with my bff last night after work and it was delicious. Today is a normal day at work. Puck is eating and drinking as normal, so I think he might have been a little stressed out by the roofing we were doing last week. Which I think is like 95% done.
Anyone have any hike recommendations between Monroe and Stevens Pass?

Which raw food are you feeding them?
I ordered some fancy schamcy stuff from a local organic pet food store called Jeffrey's because they will deliver and I am uber-lazy. Is there a brand you use and recommend? This stuff was ridiculously expensive but at 3:30 in the morning and worrying about Rooney's little immune system, I did not care about the cost. Ask me again after I'm fully awake and I might have a different answer. I'm glad to hear you like the raw food, though; our doggy daycare people swear by it.
Also what do you do when you're gone? Do you send raw along to the dog sitter? That always seemed somewhat complex to me.
In Seattle we were feeding Nature's Variety from Mud Bay, but here we're doing a straight from the farm supplier. She was get the NV venison, but the only annoyance with that is I couldn't always find it.
To be really honest, I think that getting it from the farm is so much better, so your stuff is probably better than NV. Our place guarantees it field to freezer in 48 hours. The NV stuff was good, but the farm to freezer stuff is amazing. We pay about £100 every 7 weeks, so it's not terrible. If I remember right I was spending about $80/month back in Seattle. When we go back I think I'm going to try to find a farm to freezer supplier before I just go back to NV.
She eats 10.5 oz of the food a day. I also give her a spoonful of plain yogurt with each feeding, some fish oil and a raw, organic egg (with shell) 1x a week.
Our dog sitter also feeds raw, so I just pack up some food for her and he does the normal routine with her. The only thing of caution is that a lot of places won't feed your dog raw (or at least that's what I encountered in Seattle), so I would ask that if you need a new day care. But it's a moot point since yours is pro-raw.
Hopefully Rooney and Lucas enjoy raw as much as Betty has!
Good morning! Work is slowing down a little and hopefully our home life will soon, too. I planned on starting the 21 day fix on Monday, but didn't end up making it to the grocery store until late last night...and then didn't have enough time to meal prep and get DD's lunch made last night, so I'm going to start tomorrow...which is good so I have time to read a bit more about the specifics.
Our hole is fixed (I suck, I still need to post a pic for you all to see it), but the idiot guy that came to fix it painted with a roller so it looks completely different than the rest of the ceiling. My patience is running thin with this whole thing.
I hope everyone is well - I need to catch up on the happenings around here.

Good morning. I had a burger from Herfy's last night. It was okay, filled the need, but not spectacular.
I'm so hungry this morning. I'm usually not hungry and don't start eating until around 11, but this morning my stomach is rumbling.
Tman has piano lessons and then karate after school today. This is his last week in karate. It's kind of sad since he's been in it for 3.5 years, but he hasn't taken it seriously in a while, half the time we have to drag him to class, and with his new tuition, we can't afford to have him in an extra curricular that he's not putting effort into.
I need to curl back in bed and hide under the covers today. Unfortunately that can't happen, so I'm just going to work at keeping myself sane for the day, that might involve locking a kid up in a dog crate (if only we could crate train kids)

OMG I FEEL LIKE SUCH A DUMMY
I just remembered Dan and I went to a burger place in Kent that I loved. It's called Shake N Go. Hit that up next time you have a craving. Sorry I didn't remember in time for yesterday

I am 100% offended that I did not have this information YESTERDAY! Man, what kind of internet (mostly) stranger are you!?
I'll keep it in mind for next time. I like burgers a lot, so it will come in handy.
I have a slow day. Not much on my calendar. That always makes me a little nervous. Still sticking to the Whole 30 plan and having a lot of success. H is loving his new job. And I'm loving having him home so much more. Soooo nice. Have a great day!
Thanks @uwhuskygirl! We are heading down there soon to hang out and bring food. Hopefully she will move past this soon.
School started yesterday! Back to the grind we are going to learn so much this quarter, it is going to be crazy!
I got a call that they need to repeat my MRI I just had, no solid details other than they need more images. I hate MRIs with the Fire of a thousand Suns and have to be sedated, so that is kind of a bummer. It will all work out but I am ready to know what is in my abdomen.

Nothing exciting on this Tuesday. Stayed up too late last night for no good reason (H was out with the guys and I stayed up reading) so I'm sleepy today. If I was working from home I'd take a nap E has piano after school then P has soccer. I'm hoping it is not dumping rain for his soccer practice. Or if it is I hope they cancel!
We bought some frozen soup (Northwest Chowder) at the Ballard Farmer's Market the other weekend and are having that for dinner. Will add a salad, nice loaf of bread, glass of wine, and I'll be a happy woman.
minion - how far of a hike are you looking for? Lake Serene is a nice hike - although when we did it the clouds were so low we couldn't really see the lake too much. Barclay Lake is a nice easy hike - around 4 miles round trip?

I have a funny story about this hike. It was my very first overnight hike I had EVER done and it was in April. and All I wore was cotton...and I fell in the lake... and that's why I don't go winter camping!

Oh man, not a good introduction to backpacking! That is where we took the kids a few years ago for their first backpacking trip. Luckily with better results
I'm too stressed today to read through everyone, sorry. I'll catch up one of these days. AF showed up late last night but at least the vicodin for my neck is taking care of the massive low back pain I woke up with thanks to her visit. I have PT today AND my first fall class up in North Bellevue. I'm super excited for Illustrator 1! I'm completely self-taught on that program so it will be great to learn more efficient ways of doing things and increasing my skills beyond their mostly basic level.
Work is a bit nutso - my ex-boss is going on a 2 week vacation at quarter end, which wouldn't be a big deal but we're bringing on a new district for a client that requires one person to dedicate 1-2 entire days to them. Plus, our main programmer is apparently on jury duty and was picked for a case that they "think" will only be 3 days. Um, how did work not write in what a hardship the timing was? So I'm sitting here with about 14 POs I have to work on PLUS processing and down 2 people to help.
