And let's not talk about poor college student parties. I'm talking about as adults w/ paying jobs - if you've been to a party that really had NO food, tell me about it. Because people are answering the other post like this actually happens and it baffles me.
I don't know if it's just the people that are attracted to my gym or whatever, but whenever we have a gym party, it's a ridiculous amount of food. Like, all available counter space covered in food.
We do have one friend who is notoriously cheap. They asked people to help them move (we were all mid-20s and moving a lot), then asked everyone to bring a dish to pass. To their move. AND he grilled hot dogs and hovered over the grill and kept yelling out things like, "I hope no one wants more than one hot dog, because then someone's going to have to drive to the store to buy buns!" That was my closest brush with no food.

My sister has parties where there is never enough food. I learned early on to bring a big tray of ziti or something. And one of my best friends will have people over and serve nothing but popcorn. Or sometimes nothing at all. Last time I was there, she had her mom, aunts and cousins there along with a few of our friends. She had nothing but lemonade. I brought a huge tray of pretzel nuggets, wine, juice boxes and fruit snacks for the kids. This happens regularly.
I can't think of a party, but MH and I spent that night at his boss' mountain cabin. For dinner, they served chicken fajitas, like, the kits that come in a box. Each person got 1 fajita and there were no side dishes. My husand and I are not little people. We were quite hangry by morning.
I would've driven off that mountain and gone to Chipotle hahaha.
my SIL always has her kids parties over lunch time and has like one bowl of chips and cake. And that's it.
We are often late because we stop to grab food on the way up (it's an hour drive) and I would rather be a little late than spend the next few hours starving.
My SIL did this for YEARS. It would be at 6:00 or 6:30 on Friday or Saturday night and she would serve cake, ice cream, chips, and cheese puffs. That was it.
FINALLY they started at least ordering pizza a few years ago. Although a few times she served beef sandwiches and then told us all they were leftover roast. Like, all year long, she and her MIL froze little bits of leftover roast every time they made it. Then they heated it all together in a crockpot to re-serve at birthday parties on sandwiches. I am not normally a germaphobe but that made me gag. We have not stopped joking about her pre-owned beef sandwiches since.
Yes. My SIL had a birthday party for her son and only served a small bowl of triscuits. It was from 1-3 and she was like "well it's not like I made the party for 12:00. People should have already eaten!" Uh, ok.
She kind of did it again last year. She had like 30 people in her house for her son's birthday and served 1/3 of a left over meat and cheese tray from her (2nd) baby shower the week before. Also, 6 cupcakes cut in half for 30 people. I did not eat anything.
And my husband threw one last week (though one of the guests brought a bag of pretzels). He is 35 and has a paying job.
I was kind of ^o) about the NO food AT ALL thing (I usually try for chips and hummus at the very least), but hey, it wasn't my party or friends, I was going to show up late anyway, and it was a good way in theory to have people leave early in search of dinner. And then no-one left before midnight. Oh well.

We usually have leftovers for a solid week after I throw a party.
I went to one kid's party where they had like totinos pizza bites for the kids, and nothing for the adults, during lunch. Then the same people had a party and if adults wanted a drink they were told to use the soda machine (at a gym).
The best part about a kids party (especially at a gym place where there's a "host" who plays with the kids) is them running around like banshees and you eating with the grownups and chatting.
Don't have a party if you can't do it right, or have it 2-4 where chips and cake is acceptable.

We ALWAYS have to eat before we go to SIL's. Always.

I went to a wedding in vegas once (not a quickie, and actual wedding in a ballroom) and all they served were cheese and crackers, but there was an open bar. It was a really bad combination :/

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK IS THIS DISGUSTING NONSENSE
Worse than a party with no food or only a bag of chips and cheese puffs. That's what.
I would rather eat $5 hot and ready pizza than pre-owned beef sandwiches.
And to make it even WORSE, she and her SIL would argue over who got the MIL's leftovers to add to their stash of certified pre-owned freezer beef.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Oh dude! That is nasty! Literally just turned my stomach
Not a party, but one year my MIL hosted the family christmas on the 26th and didn't serve anything. I don't even think she offered anyone a drink even.

18 people denied half a cupcake
Lol. Sad indeed. Actually, someone tapped me on the shoulder and was like "um, your daughter is up at the table eating another piece of cupcake" And you know what? I wasn't even mad. How are you going to have all these people over and feed us 1/2 cupcakes? Dude.

superduper - For DD's 2nd bday, it was a Dora fiesta (her bday is cinco de mayo, and it was a Saturday) ad we had a taco bar, and seriously ate tacos for a week. I even made them into enchiladas at one point bc we were so tired of it.
For her 3rd bday we had a Bippidi Boppidi BBQ, and ate BBQ for a week after too. I even sent a bunch home with my college age brother just to get rid of it.
I would be so embarrassed to not have enough food.
Not that I can remember. I did go to a wedding in the middle of they day that only served cookies/ small deserts. It was a dry wedding too. I was STARVING.
