I am a UVA law grad, so this story really gets to me. I keep thinking of all the times I was drunk and dumb, but I really felt like Charlottesville was a pretty safe place. I know I was just lucky and it's not fair that Hannah wasn't. Now that I have kids, my heart aches for her parents. I don't have much hope for her.
I only met him once, but my friends who know him say he isn't super bright. I keep wondering if something happened and she died accidentally - alcohol poisoning or some other circumstance - when he was with her and he freaked out. I don't know. I just wish they would find her. Or him, and then he would lead them to her.
Did anyone else see that the t-shirt of the young girl that went missing in 2009 from the Metallica concert in Charlottesville was found near LJ's car/where Hannah was last seen? If these two things are connected that will be insane.
Whoa, where did you see that? If they were connected and he is found guilty for the Harrington case, I will be SO relieved for both families.
"Harrington, a 20-year-old Virginia Tech student, went missing after attending a Metallica concert in Charlottesville in October 2009. Her remains were found on a farm months later. Police have yet to track down her killer, and her family has long said they suspect there could be other victims. The T-shirt Harrington was wearing when she disappeared was found near where Graham disappeared."
Huh. I wonder how they know that? In any case, that's...weird. And creepy. At least if they get Jesse back, they can test his DNA against what they already have.
In April 2010, law enforcement confirmed that a Pantera T-shirt that was found in November 2009 outside of an apartment building about a mile and a half from the arena, was indeed the shirt she had been wearing on that evening according to forensic tests.
How long has it been since Jesse Matthew fled? I'm wondering if he might kill himself :/
I was wondering if he already has. There's been no trace of him, as far as I have heard (not obsessively following, though) vis a vis sightings, credit card activity, etc.

His attorney briefly spoke today. Even though he didn't say much, I have the impression that if Jesse was dead, he would know. He said that "something will be said at some point." Whatever that means.
Sigh. I can't believe he thought he was going to outrun this. I'm kind of morbidly hoping they can tie him (correctly, not hoping for trumped up evidence) to some other of the local cases of missing girls so some families can get some closure. Of course, that would mean that I once knew a kid who became a serial killer. Shudder.
I know, I was too, Morgan specifically. Although I would think that they have already matched his DNA with the one they had for that. Would they have already added that charge? Or would they not release that yet? I don't know. Ugh. I'm guessing he was headed to Mexico.

the DNA from the Harrington murder matches that of a 2005 Fairfax County rapist.

I know. And he supposedly has family up there. I just meant that with all the testing they did from his apt/car, I am sure they have gotten samples of his DNA already and see if it matched.
Of course this is all speculation, though. It's hard not to be #overinvested when it's local.
And ditto incogneato - the cab driver (in 2009) detail really skeeved me out.
I've been following this story closely. It makes perfect sense that he is/was a cab driver. For all we know he could still have an ID or license from the cab company. Think drunk girl, lost, wanting to go home. He swoops in, shows her his driver ID, offers to take her home. He has a kind face, IMO. I know I probably would have trusted him if I saw a legitimate looking ID.
So, so sad. I hope they are able to bring her home soon.
