Do any of you have one? I'm thinking of getting a white one so I can bleach it. We have a 14 month old so I need something practical. Is this a bad idea?
Also, most of the ones I have seen have rolled arms and I want something a little more sleek. Any recommendations on where I can find one?
We do have one, out of necessity, in the playroom/den. It has been washed at least 1x/week for years and has held up great. Spills happen with kids and knowing you can wash this is so stress-free.

I have the white ikea erktorp. It washes great but I don't think it's really "practical." I kept a throw on mine when it got everyday use because I would have been washing it constantly. It's not horrible to wash but I was not ok with doing it too frequently. I moved it to a lower traffic area of the house and got gray microfiber for our high traffic area.
I really do love mine but it can be pretty high maintenance.
Side note-we bought it almost three years ago and bought an extra cover. Still haven't had to get out the extra, it really does wash well once you figure out the learning curve.

I had an Erktorp for years and have mixed feelings about slip covers. It's great to be able to wash them, but a pain in the butt to actually do it. My cover always look wrinkled and messy to a degree. With our second baby we had leather. I feel like that's the way to go with kids. It's so easy to wipe down.
We have an Ikea Karlstad. The covers have held up fairly well to somewhat frequent washing, but like others have said, we keep a blanket on top of most of the couch because we have 2 resident dogs and at least one rotating foster. The couch itself is super comfortable.
The one big challenge is that the covers over the arms of the couch don't really come off unless you take the couch apart, so those don't get washed nearly as much as needed. The cushion covers, though, are pretty simple to remove. If you have kids and dogs, I'd suggest one of the darker colored covers. We went with white when we moved into our new place (had dark brown originally) and I regret that. We're planning on getting one of the dark gray covers next time we're near Ikea.

Like people said the white covers are only $50 at IKEA . So if you change your mind about white, no big deal. There are a bunch of other options. I have the ektorp and two white covers. They hold up well and I bleach them like crazy. I am thinking about buying a grey cover next just to change it up.
