We love them. Absolutely zero maintenance. Put a hot pot right on there, or leave citrus face down--whatever. I dont have mental energy to worry about counters
I LOVE LOVE LOVE our quartz countertops. We just had it done recently so I can't speak on long term. But we opted for a bright white and they just seem SO durable!! I also think visually they look much more modern than granite. We were told by the quartz shop owner that it is nonporous and can withhold almost anything (except extreme heat - don't put hot pan straight on it). I've already cut veggies, etc without a cutting board (yes, I'm that risky) and nothing has damaged them. Also DD has spilled things like blueberries and tomato sauce and even though they are bright white and I sometimes don't see the spills for hours, they wipe up easily. To clean I tend to just use a tad of the dish soap nearby and it works fantastic. And we'll never have to seal them! Here's a pic that shows the countertops a bit...
They do suggest that you not put very hot pans (like off the stove) on them, or cut on them (the stone would dull my knives anyway). We put in a limestone back splash that had to be sealed.
Price is comparable to granite though, it is not much (if any) cheaper.
We went with pentalquartz.com Azul Aran. Kitchen floor and cabinets are white, so the dark grey/blue really provides some nice contrast to all the white.

I love our quartz counters. We have white cabinets and went with a black countertop. My mom also has white cabinets in her kitchen and i think her she chose Blanco River.

We've had ours for 2 years and I love them. Zero maintenance! We had granite in our old house and I didn't like it very much. We have Hanstone Quartz in English Toffee, I think.

Would you mind posting a pic?
I am utterly clueless as to ow to pits a pic on this forum. I have a couple on my iPad, including a really cool fossil shell in the limestone that we put in a fairly prominent place.
I really like ours. My only regret is the quartz sink that's undermounted- it's white and I feel like it's always dirty! Here's a pic, I think the manufacturer was Color Quartz.
This is really interesting - I didn't know they were making quartz sinks. We have a Blanco Silgranite (granite composite) sink in white and it always looks clean despite our abuse.

We have quartz in our bathroom, it is darker than what you are looking at, a dark brown with white/cream cabinets. My only complaint is that is shows ever drop of water or spot of whatever spills. We have a white, gray, and a little purple flecks granite in out kitchen. I am glad we went with the granite over the quartz because the natural stone is more forgiving on being a bit messy. We are clean were we cook, but our kitchen is big, especially the island, and I would not enjoy cleaning every drop of water off the counter every time.
It also seems that the honed granite/quartz are becoming more popular.
This is the pic I have after they first installed the quartz and sink, back splash not yet installed. Sink still hasn't been hooked up. We had to remove some cabinets because there is an appliance garage in that corner. The second pic is of the quartz/back splash.
We're going to put in silestone in our new place. I'm so excited, and love how it looks. We're doing white in the kitchen, and dark grey in the bathrooms and a few other surfaces in our house.
We have granite in our kitchen and quartz in one of our bathrooms. Both hold up well and are easy to maintain. The granite sealing thing is way overblown. It takes no time at all and many granites don't really need it anyway. I'd go with whichever you prefer the look.
