Has anyone been to a fun tour that is worth the touristy chaos? We have done the museums, top of the rock, central park, times square, chelsea market, hi line. Looking for anything interesting or fun. TIA!
Not a tour, but have you walked across the Brooklyn Bridge? That's an awesome thing to do. You can admire the views of the city from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Great pizza possibilities in that area too (Grimaldi's or Juliana's, or Fornino in the park).
Same with taking the Staten Island Ferry (free, and great views).
I did a food tour in the LES that I really enjoyed. It was actually somewhat of a history lesson mixed in with sampling of food from different cultures.
I am a huge fan of Ellis Island and they just opened some areas that have previously not been accessible to the public. You can do a "hard hat tour" through the hospital which is only semi-restored. It is booked solid on the website for weekends until the end of November, but there were a lot of weekday openings when I booked the other day.
I've also heard the tenement museum is very interesting.
I did a fashion tour once where they take you to a bunch of sample sales. It was fun. It's less fun if you're not a popular size though - that was the biggest complaint I heard about it
I was going to suggest the Brooklyn Bridge too. We haven't done it yet but we want to - and soon.
And I agree with going to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I did it about 7 years ago when I was up there for a couple weeks and I really enjoyed it.
We did the 9/11 memorial and the cheesy SATC tour. It was my bachelorette party and we all used to watch SATC so we just had to.
I see the SATC tour bus outside The Pleasure Chest all the time (that is my neighborhood; I am not a PC regular). I always laugh when there are teens stuck outside when their moms go in because they're too young to go in.

Where else does it stop?
Ahah yes that was funny. We were in and out quick.
We stopped(not in order) (I have the booklet at home with exact names): DVF Scout Bar (I don't remember it's real name) Pleasure chest The cutest neighborhood by the high line and a kids park Miranda went to in the shows, I will have to look that one up it was my fave. They had someone drop off Magnolia cupcakes here. I think it might be Jefferson Market Garden?(you might know better) Birdalamode,The restaurant they had their engagement party at. Met at the Plaza/Bergdorf, we drove by Sushi Samba, the street she smacked big with flowers from the movie. Friar Fucks church. The coffee shop, cipriani, and dropped us off on the backside of the library and I think it was Madison square park?
Wow, you covered a lot of ground. I live in that cutest neighborhood . That garden is next to my library!
Ooh I'm jealous! I called H and was like "We need to move to NYC to this neighborhood!" We had time to walk around at this stop. They had the cutest little cafes and it seemed like a young neighborhood but still had quite a few families.
And lol at birdalamode, my phone must have autocorrected that should have been Buddakan.
