DH called, he FINALLY got the offer from the job in DC, 8 weeks after his last interview!
It's about what we expected which is to say it's on the low end for being HCOL but probably doable. I have to crunch the numbers again tonight.
I think, looking beyond just money, it would be a good opportunity for both of us in several ways. I'm 95% sure he's going to take this job. Eek! Crazy to think things might finally be happening....
I'm so sad we already moved away, but so happy for you!! Let me know if you have any questions when crunching the numbers.
My question is, how can we make stuff be cheaper, lol. Especially rent. I think we're just going to have to be conservative with the type of place we live in and know it's not forever. I think some of our stuff will be staying with my parents.

Congrats! Will he be working in DC or within the MD/DC/NOVA beltway/tri area? While the HCOL can be daunting, it's definitely doable. Let me know if you need any recommendations for places to look/live when you get out here. I'm biased, but it really is a great place to be. Tons to do, plenty to see, great restaurants, you can't go wrong. Traffic blows though so hopefully you guys can find somewhere where it isn't to much of a commute.

He will be working in DC but we will be living in either MD or VA, not sure...we are looking at a few different neighborhoods and won't make a decision until I get to visit and look at places.

Congrats! I grew up in northern VA, went to high school in MD, and one of my BFF's lives in DC. My parents are in Fairfax County, VA. I might be able to answer questions if you have them about the area. Glad you guys are finally getting closure on this!

HoneySpider I live in the DC area. Pm me if you have specific questions about areas because I have family that lives in many different parts of the DC area. It is definitely doable on a budget you just have to look hard and be willing to possibly commute. Let me know if you have questions about neighborhoods/towns. I am so excited for you guys

Oh, and did I mention? Our new health insurance will be much more expensive than what we are used to but IT HAS INFERTILITY COVERAGE!!! <) That is huge for us!
If all goes well with DH in the next few months, I am hoping to really get going on the TTC front come 2015.
I haven't been on here in a while but I am sooooo happy I checked in today. Great news, HS! My H and I lived in DC for three years when he went to school and really loved it. Although rent etc may be more $$, there are so many awesome free things to do in DC. And it's so close to home for you. You'll never have the expense of plane tickets for holidays or just to visit fam. So that's one big plus, budget wise. Yay!
