I've been tired of it for a long time. Well, tired of the misinterpretation of what it means and how people twist it.
This is me. These idiots who defend their right to open carry in Kroger, citing the second amendment. Uhhhhh....
I'm also tired of the rest of the world WTFing us because we refuse to fix one of our biggest problems, a problem that NO ONE else has to the extent we do. I WTF us too.

Yeah, this bonehead on my Facebook has recently decided he and his wife absolutely have to get permitted because of the beheading. In Oklahoma. We are in Ma. I saw the comments and everyone was all omg get a gun, I did, when are you getting yours, blah..... I pulled a KA and commented "grips need to be gotten". And nonsense ensued, so I then had to ask which well regulated militia they intend to become members of. Either they blocked me or no one replied after that.
They'd google how to make a bomb out of borax and steel wool or someshit.
Psychos will find a way...
SOME psychos will, sure. but you know what's nice about guns? they are EASY. Most people are going to be too lazy to research and find other ways to kill a lot of people all at once. Guns make it EASY.
I was born in Indiana and grew up in Wyoming (aka tundra Texas).
so...? 'murica
i think if you are going to be a gun person, you should probably keep it under wraps. it's not cool to be on that side of the debate. you just look uneducated, combative and rednecky.
This is so strangely combative. I'm not saying anything particularly incendiary here. I'd say if I have to pick a political party (though I find politics ridiculous) I'd fall on the side of libertarian, with a few notable "don't kill people" exceptions like the death penalty and abortion. I just happen to be a person that finds the 2nd amendment to have some merit, not saying I think we shouldn't have strict regulations surrounding guns.
These shootings are a symptom of a societal disease. Take away guns and they'll use bombs. Or, you know, illegal guns. We need to find out why people are suddenly doing this in such high numbers and fix what we're doing wrong as a populace, not disarm the nation, IMO.

I don't disagree, but a part of the "disease" is the gun culture that exists in this country.

Yup. These two in this particular case had been fighting/in an argument before school. The idea that a high schooler can have such easy access to a gun, and their go to reaction when fighting with a fellow high schooler, is indicative of a major problem. Guns just shouldn't be so easy to get.

I think is has a lot more to do with an obsession with celebrity, and the fact that we now have a generation of kids that have essentially been raised completely insulated from the concepts of failure, humiliation, and rejection. Some of them just implode when faced with these. Also, narcissism and cruelty in unprecedented quantities thanks to the internet, and a continuous stream of fictional violence over the last 60 years. People used to witness violence in person only. They saw the aftermath and the value of human life. Now people die and die and die in the most gruesome ways imaginable 24 hours a day to thrill us all.
I'm just tired of how people don't keep their guns secure. We have two guns. We are researching gun safes so that when there are kids in the picture, the guns are put away, and locked up. I work in a busy downtown area. Short walk through a busy parking area to/from the office. I've had crazy people throwing concrete in my direction when sitting at a stop light outside our parking lot. One coworker was chased by a crazy person carrying a pipe. Coworker got to his car, pulled out his gun, and the crazy person ran off. Coworker didn't have to use it.
I'll also add that I was raised with family who had guns. My dad has them sitting out all over the house... Now, I do not think it's safe, but I'm just to having guns around. In-laws are similar, but FIL keeps his put away safely. I've grown up with this being normal, so I'll admit I have a hard time understanding the no-guns side of things.
You know, let's shut down all social media sites and illegalize the concept entirely. I'm pretty sure ISIS has used them to orchestrate more deaths than all of the school shootings of the last 20 years combined. No one can argue that Facebook is necessary to life itself.

Because it's not just mass shootings. It's all the gun related deaths.

Ok, I think we can assume that if we give the internet in general nearly 1,000 years from inception and compare it to the total gun body count of today, the internet will win.

Let's get rid of it.
If we're heading down this road, then what's the Bible's body count?

Okay....see you later then? Unless you're practicing what you peach and shunning all Internet, you're admitting that you're willingly walking around with a gun in your hand. Unless of course, you're excused because you're responsible about it. This is just like Pagas' maternity leave argument. It has absolutely no merit in the face of so many countries instituting the laws you're debating against, and having huge success with it.
There is a significant historical and cultural dissonance between those countries and ourselves.

Does history, the past, have to be determinate of the future?
Slavery?
Is that a bad argument?
Look, people, any people, can say, at any point in time, "This is a bad idea. What we are currently doing is wrong."
History is the past. It does not have to be the present or the future.
Guns are not so ingrained in our culture that we can not turn around. Slavery, turned it around. Racial inequality, turned it around. Lack of legal abortion, turned it around.
I saw that video the other day... Maybe someone posted it on CEP? Anyway, it's pretty powerful. Using kids for propaganda sometimes irks me, but this is about the kids goddammit.
