What % of your child's meal ends up on the floor?

I am pretty sure that E throws way more food on the ground than he gets in his mouth.  Tonight he was throwing pieces of chicken in the air and laughing hysterically.  I gave him a firm no and he just laughed harder.  He then proceeded to suck on his avocado slices for a second and then spit them on the ground, again laughing.  Should I just feed him with a spoon?  I wish we had a dog to lick up his mess.  I am sick of getting on my hands and knees and picking it up twice a day.

It depends on the meal. Anywhere from 1/4-1/2. The dogs LOVE it!

They are older so little ends up on the floor. When they were little if they threw food it went away. They obviously weren't hungry if they weren't eating it.

50% it's terrible. She is getting better now that I give her a fork or spoon because now it's a new game to try to get it in her mouth.

Maybe 20%. Do you always pick it up / give him more? Maybe if you just let him figure out that floor=food is gone?

I guess I should do that.  He is ALWAYS hungry, so I worry about him not getting enough food.  I guess that he won't learn if I just keep replacing it though.

DD2 deliberately feeds the dog so that sucks.

Usually when she starts throwing food down though, I say "Uh oh! Throwing food means ALL DONE!" and take away her tray.

Maybe a third. It's going to suck when we move and we no longer take advantage of the ILs' dog to eat up all the food.

Not as much any more but it used to be bad. Honestly I didn't always clean it up right away unless it was going to be really sticky or get hard or something. I just cleaned once at the end of the day. Maybe I am gross. Lol.

Oh yeah I said all done if he started throwing food.

50% easy. He's picky and he finds it hilarious.

Also he chews food forever then spits it out, sometimes 3-5 minutes later. It's maddening.

It depends. Maybe a third when she's feeding herself? She drops a lot by accident, and when she decides she's done she usually starts dropping things intentionally. If she drops it by accident, I'll pick it up and give it back to her (assuming it's like cracker or waffle, etc), but the second time something is dropped it goes away. I end up having to sweep after most meals.

It goes way down over time. I was so frustrated around age one, but now I usually have just a few things to clean up from my 2 kids who are 2 1/2 and almost 5.

Easily 50%, probably more. She hates eating (we get maybe one good meal out of her every 4 days or so) and she thinks its hysterical to throw food. Meal time has become the bane of my existence.

When do throws it I remove the tray for a couple of seconds and ask her if she is done. It stops the throwing for a couple of seconds and diffuses the situation because she starts giggling and will just keep throwing handfuls of food. I don't really like to use lack of food as a punishment though.

25% or so depending on how fast I am to remove his tray. On the plus side, he likes to pick up his own mess! He will pick up kernels of corn individually and carry them over the trash. He gets that from his father lol.

It used to be a bunch, but now it's very little. Like 5%. But we have dogs, so I play the "it could make them sick" card

When he was your sons age about 50%. He had quite an arm on him and would just lob stuff. Made me crazy.

A year later it isn't so bad. He now just picks up his plate and says "all done". Now if I don't get their quick enough to get it it may get dumped on the floor.
