DD sat right around 6 months. It was like the week before her pics were scheduled for. Perfect timing! LOL. She was still pretty wobbly, due to her giant head, but the pics were great.
simpsongal he usually nurses from both sides every time. I don't have a hands free bra. I'm going to see how this week goes- if my supply increases back up in the mornings and if a hand pump works better. If not I will probably try a hands free bra and pump during my commute around 7 or 7:30 since I'll be in the car for an hour.
How do you differentiate between postpartum depression and the depression/anger that can come from just being stressed out? Or not depression but frustration?
It's tough to explain but I feel on edge lately. Never around E - in fact, being with her calms me down immensely, she just makes me so happy - but I find myself struggling with a desire to have some time for myself. At the same time, it kills me to be away from her all day, so I don't want that time to come from our weekends together. Nights are my only option and I'm exhausted so I go to bed after I do bedtime, daycare/milk prep, dinner, mail, and whatever NEEDS to be done any given night. It's not like I can go get a pedicure, shop, or meet friends at that point, anyway.
I have no advice, but I'm right there with you. DS is awesome, I'm not ever depressed when it comes to him. My job, husband, family.... everyone else get me on edge. Probably because I never take time for myself. I could on the weekends, but I'm either on solo baby duty or if my husband is actually home, then I want it to be FAMILY time. Not Mommy runs off for a pedi time. (hugs)
DUDE.... I keep hearing about these Matty M leggings, but I don't have Costco so I've ignored. I just went to the Costco website and the non-member surcharge is only $1.50!
They're currently on their way to me in 3-5 days! I hope they live up to the hype.
I stayed up too late watching the Royals game last night but WORTH IT. Holy crap.
C didn't sit until closer to 7.5 months, but he has always had an off-the-charts huge head and was on the later end of normal for a lot of physical milestones his first year. Our pedi wasn't concerned.
I feel kind of like an idiot for calling my OB about what are probably just spider veins. I'm the only one in the office today and really shouldn't leave for an ultrasound or appointment. Waiting for a callback.
That Royals game was intense. I am so tired this morning, but you're right- totally worth it. We should be at the game on Sunday, I'm excited!
I'm trying to get H to commit to names purely so I can order our stockings and make sure I can get the designs I want. I realize this is a little crazy.
Can you pump once daily for your stash? You may be able to get away with not pumping one morning a week, but def take your pump in case you feel engorged - a full boob signals your body to slow down production. Personally, I liked the forced break of a pumping session and purposely brought a magazine for my 'break time.'
As an aside, I'd recommend speaking to an LC about pumping. Sometimes a small change to the way you pump or the flange size or something can make all the difference in the world.
The last couple of days (since I found out is be working) I've been pumping in the morning a couple of hours after his first feed. Yesterday I got 2 oz at least. Lol.
I think in going to buy a hand pump and see if that works better for me. Plus then I can stick it in my work bag just in case. I've hanged flange sizes, gotten new parts from ameda, changed out the little white things and nada. I'm hoping if I consistently pump in the mornings my output with increase then.
Are you using an Ameda Purely Yours pump, or a hospital grade? If just a purely yours, see if you can see an LC and pump with a hospital grade pump that has a faster cycle speed. The hospital grades, or the Medela PISA, cycle faster to simulate a baby's sucking pattern before letdown and can increase output a LOT while also stimulating you more so you'll hopefully get more long-term as well.
Also, 5oz bottles is a lot. Are you sure he really needs that much and isn't just eating too fast?
Today is MDO. I'm going to the chiropractor and then I was going to go to the store, but I might just lounge around since J was up three times last night and a tantrum mess yesterday.

It's a PY. I'm not sure about the bottles. I left him with only 4 oz once and he was hungry still. The next time he had a bottle it was almost 6 oz and he drank the whole thing. He is wicked wicked slow at the bottle so I don't thrill he is drinking it too fast.. He takes longer on the bottle than nursing..

humpforfree are you doing compressions when pumping? I had a hands free bra (sports bra with cut outs or I also pumped in sleep bras... They held the flanges in fine for me) but I always had to do compressions. I also had to play around with the suction to get the milk to actually spray out versus just slowly drip.
No, I haven't done compressions- is there a certain method, or just go at it? And spray out!? I didn't even know that was a possibility!! My suction feels the same from half way all the way to the end... The ameda rep said it was working correctly... Ugh. I think the pump is crap.
I unclenched yesterday and let DS have a birthday cupcake at daycare. his teacher tells me he refused to touch it. poor kid doesn't know what he's missing.
I need to whine because my vag is in the shop and I'm uncomfortable. Another random UTI struck yesterday, I'm on antibiotics since last night and I'm taking pyridium which makes my pee look like orange soda. I just fucking hate UTI's, I wish there was an OTC available instead of antibiotics. On a brighter note, I had to drag both kids to the walk-in clinic at 7pm last night and they were beyond awesome. Just sat quietly as mommy discussed peeing with the Dr.
I still feel like I have to pee about every 10 minutes but it's getting better.
I've moved on to the 90's hip hop station on Pandora. 1st of the month, Regulators, Rump Shaker, and now Back That Thang Up (damn you censored version)...it's like high school/early college up in my office right now. Cancellations do nothing for my productivity numbers but they do wonders for my chair ass shaking time.
OK guys, yesterday greycat recommended twentytrucks videos on YouTube for Bas. First, he fucking LOVED them. I have never seen him that excited. Second, wow, the cement mixer video sounds really bad if you have a dirty mind. Go watch it!
Lol. Have I been pronouncing cement wrong all this time? SEA-mint is quite different from si-MENT.

I just heard my coworker complain that she is SOOOO TIRED and had she known her boss wouldn't be in today, she wouldn't have come in because she is SOOOOO TIRED.
She went to a freakin' concert an hour away last night and didn't come into work until 10. Sorry, your complaint is invalid. You made the decision to go to a concert on a work night AND you got to sleep in. My ass was awake 4 times last night soothing my screaming baby and still had to be at work at 7:00 a.m.
When did your kid start sitting up unassisted? We are getting six month pictures done in November and I'm hoping she can by then.
She is getting better at it each day. She is 5.5 months. We still need to sit near her to catch her when she starts wobbling but she can sit there for a few minutes before she topples over.
I took M to our first mother-baby yoga class this morning. He slept through most of the class and didn't get fussy until the very end! It was fun to see the older babies who were sitting up and crawling. It seems like years before M will be doing those things
I left the house without my boot on for the first time today. It actually went fine! My ankle is feeling good, and I am walking much better. I was able to participate in most of the yoga class. Child's pose of all things was the most challenging because my ankle doesn't like to bend that way.
The cleaning lady was here when we got home, so I set the sleeping baby in his carrier in the living room to quickly take the dog out, rather than wake the baby to put him in the Bjorn and have to wrangle two squirmy creatures at once. When I got back inside, M was screaming and the cleaning lady was trying to soothe him. Oops...totally not her job! :-$
DH is OOT this week and so far, so good. Today while DD was at preschool I went to the gym with the boys, showered, took them to story-time at the library, out to lunch, picked up DD and went to a playdate at a great park a few miles from my house that I never knew existed. It's one of those perfect SAHM days. Now it's naptime but the boys are playing and not napping. Can't win them all, I guess.
SIL is having a low-key GNO/bachelorette party on Friday night and after DH had bachelor parties all over the effing place earlier in the year, I am GOING to this one lol. Since we'll be in c-bus for the weekend, DH's cousin is running in a race Saturday morning that involves a free bottle of wine at the finish, how cool is that?! After she posted about it yesterday I actually thought about doing it but I never run that far, usually just a mile or two after a strength class at the gym. So I went down and ran a 5k on the treadmill after the kids went to bed last night to make sure I could actually do it. Yup, 3.2 in 33 minutes! But now on second thought, I think I just want to enjoy myself Friday night without worrying about getting up and running the next morning. And $40+ for a race I haven't really prepared for at all seems wasteful. Next time!
