I just want to make sure I don't come off as, well, a terrible person for not changing the title when so many people are opting out. I think that's a bad precedent to set and will make people more likely to not want to choose a title if it may be rejected so I'm going to go with this and hope those who don't want to read it will come back next month. I hope that's ok with everyone.
For a thousand dollars, Jude will become the proud owner of a dead man's suit, said to be haunted by a restless spirit. He isn't afraid. He has spent a lifetime coping with ghosts—of an abusive father, of the lovers he callously abandoned, of the bandmates he betrayed. What's one more?
But what UPS delivers to his door in a black heart-shaped box is no imaginary or metaphorical ghost, no benign conversation piece. It's the real thing.
And suddenly the suit's previous owner is everywhere: behind the bedroom door . . . seated in Jude's restored vintage Mustang . . . standing outside his window . . . staring out from his widescreen TV. Waiting—with a gleaming razor blade on a chain dangling from one bony hand. . . .
That doesn't sound terrifying AT ALL. But I'm in. I have a hold at my library.

I think this is the right decision! Not everyone is going to like or want to read everything.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who is a big scaredy cat

I'm here, too. Doesn't bother me at all to skip a month, as long as you welcome me back next month
I will give it a try, but I'm not making promises. I normally love horror books, but my nighttime anxiety has been a little high lately, so we'll see how it goes.

Nope not a terrible person, that's kind of the point of book club! if we tried to find a book every single person wants to read it'll never happen each 'host' should pick a book they want to read and anyone who is into it can join in! I'll definitely participate next month!
Okay, @vicmo, how scary on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "I would read it in a vacant house alone with a flashlight at dark" and 10 being my sister reading Silence of the Lambs when she threw the book out of her bedroom at 2 a.m. and yelled "YOU CAN'T SCARE ME ANYMORE HANNIBAL LECTER!!!!"

hermione I totally support sticking with your initial choice. This is not the first October book club pick I've had to skip due to being a big ole fraidy cat.

Oh gee, I dunno! I don't remember the details very well. Maybe a 4-5?
I just checked and the library has a copy available. I'll check it out and hold you blameless if I rate it a 10.
Come on you guys, if it scares you just put it in the freezer!
I'm definitely in! I bought this for my nook a while ago but never got around to reading it. We will be OOT visiting my ILs on the 1st so I might not be able to discuss that day but will add to the discussion when I can.
