I hope you don't take this the wrong way because this seems to be a really sensitive issue, but your coach is a total douchebag and your H is kind of being a huge ass about it all. It's really okay to put your foot down on this.
Your coach is the asshole poster child that gives CF a bad reputation. Is he unaware of the CrossFit Endurance program designed specifically for runners and other endurance athletes?! Not to mention, you have an INJURY that he doesn't give a shit about. You cancelled your membership, right?

Please tell me you told your former coach to go fuck himself? Then you went home and had a huge discussion with your H about his total disrespect and disregard for you in this matter. Basically what others said.
Oh hell no. I am so mad on your behalf. I hope this is the closure you needed to make the decision that this gym is NOT the gym for you--my box is like @sessalee and is so encouraging of outside sports and exercise and will work with each individual to tailor WODs based on events we have coming up or how we are feeling, etc. The first thing my coaches told me was that crossfit is a great addition to running long distances.
I fully encourage you find another gym/box, even if it means you and your husband are at different boxes. Good luck and I'm so sorry that you had to go through this.
Ive been hesitating commenting because ive whined about my swim team here and elsewhere and the response i usually get is "find a new place to swim." And thats not what i wsnted to hear ever (fwiw, its better now and was certainly never like what youre experiencing).
So i just want to say im sorry. That sucks. I know finding a new box is easier said than done, and easy enough for us all to say. But this sucks, and its disapppointing and likely frustrating, and im sorry.

Hugs. This seems like a disappointing update. I think you should reconsider your cross fit box. I've never done cross fit before but people with bad attitudes is my biggest fear of joining one. Good luck with your decision.
DH went and talked to the coach and then insisted I go and talk to the coach/owner. I did - it was pointless. He told me that he had a problem with me stating in my email that "it's my body and that I will choose which exercises/weights I will do" and basically told me that running will only injure me again and that if I choose to continue to run that I shouldn't cross fit. He ignored all of the issues and just attacked me for running
Run your ass out of that place. Seriously, this box sounds horrible. Leave. The coach/owner doesn't care at all about the athletes. We have people training for Ragnar. Running and Crossfit don't work together? Bullshit.

As angry as I am on your behalf, I think I am even more sad. For me personally being active isn't really a natural inclination. This situation would be a serious mental mind block for me. Which isn't fair at all. I truly hope it isn't for you.

I basically ditto all the comments where people are angry on your behalf, but I also notice that you haven't told us how you're feeling about all this. How are you feeling about potentially leaving this box now? Are you feeling ok in terms of your H and his level of support on this? I really hope that you realize none of this is any kind of legitimate comment on you, your injury or what sports you do.
Telling you to give up a sport for no reason is literally contrary to the entire foundation of Crossfit. Greg Glassman, the founder, has a little blurb called "World Class Fitness in 100 Words," the end of which reads "Regularly learn and play new sports." It's not "Crossfit or bust."
1- I'm so sorry you were even put into this position. no one should ever feel like that. especially at a place they pay monthly to visit. The gym is my happy place- if anyone ever made me feel like that- I would be out to find a new one THAT afternoon.
2- Go you for sending an email! Too bad the coach sucks and never responded. You should take it one step further and send it to the crossfit god. Your gym, your coach, and his response- that may be better.
3- I'm sure there are plenty of other gyms or boxes (box? is that a crossfit thing? I don't speak crossfit.)
4- and dissing you as a runner? he can eat a dick.
5- at the end of the day- just do what makes you happy. Again- so sorry you even went through all this.
I'm so sorry you've had this horrible experience, and I hope this post doesn't make you feel even more "ganged up" on. Sometimes it's easier to see everyone else's good intentions when the concern isn't directed right at you.
I hope you've found a solution that makes you feel comfortable. And good for you for bucking up against the coach in the first place when all this went down! Good job sticking up for yourself!
enfuego23, was this the head coach? Does his name start with B? If so...holy shit.
No, his name starts with J.
I contacted CrossFit and I'm thinking of filing a complaint:/
Good for you! I hope you're getting whatever support you need from your H...and if you aren't, you've got us. We can always plan another Columbus H&F GTG to blow off some steam...
