My grandma (mom's mom) came over last night and said that I didn't look vacationed enough when she picked us up from the airport after Maui, so she booked my husband and I a room for 2 nights in Birch Bay, as part of my birthday present. It's far enough away to be away, but close enough to come home if need be. It's also a place we've never been. She also mentioned that married folks need to 'date' each other, so this is good for us.
What do we do there? I mean, besides sleep the whole night through, do it like rabbits, and veg?
I haven't actually been, but the Ragnar course went through Birch Bay. It's gorgeous up there!! It looked like there were a few cute shops and restaurants but it's mostly a place to just relax. I was thinking I'd like to take my bike up there sometime too. Have fun! Glad you are getting some time away

I'm kind of late to seeing this thread, I only lurk over here on occasion. I live in Bellingham and work in Birch Bay, so if you want any recommendations feel free to PM me. If you're going any time soon a lot of the business will be closed for the season, but there are some fun things to do.
