The board has died down lately and I am partly to blame. How are all of you?
Work and school have been keeping me busy, but I have a three-day weekend coming up, which I am excited about. The fall weather and scenery are really boosting my mood; I love this season!
Hi, thanks for kicking off the post les! How are you doing? Sounds like things are going well with J? How's work going, hope the drive isn't too bad!
I'm excited for the 3 day weekend as well!
I am hanging in there, the babies will be here in less than a month which seems crazy. I have a c/s scheduled for Nov. 3rd as both babies are breech. I'm starting weekly ob appointments this week. Babies are growing well, as of last weeks ultrasound baby girl was weighting in at 4.2lbs and baby boy is 5.7lbs! DH and I have been spending a lot of time preparing for their arrival, the nursery is all set. We had our shower last weekend which was so fun, then placed an order for the remaining must have items. So will spend this weekend putting everything together and possibly installing the car seats.
I'm working from home 4 days a week (going into the office 1 day) which has been helpful to not have the long commute. The plan now is for me to work right up until the end of October then I'll take 12 weeks of maternity leave.
scm1011: Happy anniversary! I just lucked out with the timing of this long weekend. I worked the last six days out of seven, so I really need the break.
vtdiamond: I can't believe the babies will be here so soon! I look forward to seeing you and meeting them when you are up for having company. I hope your c-section goes smoothly. Will you be able to continue to work from home after the arrive? I'm glad you are getting a break from your commute.
Thanks for asking about me. I'm doing well. J and I are happy and will be going away for a short trip to VT together this weekend. Work is exciting, challenging, and stressful. I really enjoy it, although I would like a shorter commute. Hopefully I'll find something in the Boston area next year (I haven't been looking).
RockNVoll: I am glad you are doing well in London, although it sounds like you've hit a few hiccups. I hope you find an apartment soon! The banking system sounds like a nuisance. It's interesting to see/hear about the differences between the U.S. and other countries in the minutiae of daily life.
I hope you find an apartment soon RockNVoll, sounds like a frustrating process.
les - glad to hear things are going well. Hopefully once you build up some experience at your current hospital it will make the process of finding something in Boston much easier.
I definitely won't be able to continue the 4 days a week working from home after my maternity leave. My boss agreed to let me do it for now as the commute was getting tough physically for me. I'm thankful she's been so accommodating. I could probably get permission to work from home 1 day a week or so, but haven't asked about it yet.

scm1011 Happy Anniversary!! I hope I get to see you tonight.
les I'm glad the job is working out well. I hope you get to relax this weekend in VT, it sounds like a fun trip.
vtdiamond I can't believe the babies are almost due! That is awesome your work is flexible and hopefully you can get 1 WFH day after you go back from maternity leave.
RockNVoll I hope you find an apartment shortly and the work picks up. It sounds like a frustrating process, but hopefully it will all work out shortly.
I've been basically working a bunch, running a lot, and seeing a lot of friends and family. And buying new appliances since both my fridge and washing machine went last month. I love fall but it seems like between weddings, friends' parties, and races all my weekends are booked or partially booked. I think I have 2 weekends between now and mid-December that I don't have any plans and there is a chance DH and I are going to Germany around that time.
On that note, are we having an Oct. GTG? I can probably finagle my schedule a couple weekends to see you girls.
Thanks, everyone! I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy being a nurse, in spite of the stress and fear of making mistakes. Every day is so different. I have learned so much and have plenty of amusing stories to share now.
bostonmichelle: Wow, it sounds like you have been really busy. I hope you get a bit of a break soon. Germany sounds exciting!
I hope we can make a GTG happen this month. Unfortunately, my weekends are packed so I probably can only manage something on a weeknight. Would any of you be open to meeting for dinner or drinks after work during the week? Wednesday, Oct 15, or Tuesday, Oct 28 would work well for me.
les : you know I'm always game for a weeknight meetup
I've been nose to the grindstone lately. Work is work and the students are as student-y as ever, but personally things just seem nutty. We are looking into possibly remortgaging the house to see if we can get a better rate/lower payment. We also need to look into either a home equity loan or a construction loan as we have some serious work that needs to get done. I think I've mentioned the basement repointing, but it looks like we need to put some work into the furnace system too. It's not big enough for the house, the duct work is all jacked up and the coil is the wrong size.
I am looking forward to this extra long weekend (I took Tuesday off as well). Monday is our 7 year anniversary though I'm pretty sure it'll be a low key night as money is tied up elsewhere. We did do our annual trip to King Richard's Faire last weekend with friends and some of my family which is always a blast.
The sorority also seems to be amping up and requiring more time then usual recently.
I think I just need a vacation from life for a little bit.
Happy Anniversary, scm1011 and elfinia7. My wedding anniversary is also Monday. I can't believe it has already been seven years. Hopefully my MIL will watch DS for the night so we can go out for dinner.
Tuesday was my 8 year anniversary! My H and I are celebrating this weekend. He is running a marathon in PA and we are staying at a hotel that is a renovated train station.
I am also excited for the three day weekend. We'll be celebrating my dad and my brother's birthdays with a family party on Sunday, which will be fun. Other than that, I will likely be exercising and getting ahead on homework. I also scheduled a massage for Tuesday, which I am SUPER excited about.
vtdiamond I can't believe your little ones will be here so soon! Eek!
RockNVoll Glad to hear you're settling in ok. I've been thinking about you!
Wow. I can't believe all of the October anniversaries! DH and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary this Friday
I just got promoted to being a manager at work and have 16 direct reports. 3 hours into the job and I already had an employee complaining about how he isn't being recognized for all the work he does... It's going to be interesting... lol. I do like the people side of things, which is rare for an engineer, so I'm pretty excited about the opportunity.

Hi All! I am jealous of all of your 3 day weekends. Unfortunately, I do not get the day off on Monday. On top of that, we JUST found out last night that our day care is closed on Monday too. My husband has the day off, but made plans with a friend of ours to hang out/day drink on Monday. Now he gets to stay home with our daughter.
Work has been crazy busy since it's budgeting season. We should be done that in a month or so, so my life should go back to normal.
Lilac: Happy anniversary! Do you have any plans to celebrate? I'm sure you are an awesome manager. I think I already congratulated you on the promotion, but congratulations again!
donthasslethehoff: It's completely coincidental that I ended up having Monday off, but I definitely appreciate it. I hope work settles down for you soon!
Wow, all the fall anniversaries! Ours was last week
So glad to see all the updates.
Things are crazy busy right now. Work is horrible, S is regressing in the bathroom department, and the only calm one in our house seems to be DH! He found a job opening in Lebanon, NH and is seriously considering applying for it. He would like nothing more than to live up there. I'll keep you posted.
I'm up for a GTG either day. We are off 10/28 because we'll have just gotten back from Tahoe, so dinner/drinks sound great to me!
Hi all! It's nice to read the updates from everyone. I can take some blame for the board dying down, too. I've hardly been posting. Although I'm sure I'll start up my weekly Top Chef posts again next week when the Boston season starts!
Part of the reason I've been so quiet is that I've been busy growing a baby. I'm a little over 14 weeks pregnant! I've been feeling relatively good, just tired all the time. I'm finally getting over my fear that something will go wrong, and have told almost everyone.

Aaah, congrats! I've been wondering where you are. Glad you checked in, and with such great news!
I was just thinking today how sad I am that I'm going to be missing the Boston season of Top Chef
Thanks! And what a bummer on missing Top Chef Boston. Is there no way to watch online if you're out of the country?
I haven't been here in ages. Busy life, which seems to be the case for lots of us! I started working at a new school in my district and not quite sure I like it. It's a newer school, and the staff has all been there since the beginning and are very clique-y. This is difficult for me since I'm the type that makes friends with everyone. I'm hoping a few more weeks will make things better, though. On our off-time, DD has softball 1-2 time per weekend, and we have been fitting in home projects in between. I think we will be shopping for a new sofa this weekend since our cats have destroyed our leather one.
I have a weekend getaway planned for later this month. Just me, hoping for some peace and quiet and the opportunity to just sit still for a while!
Hey les i was thinking about you the other day when I saw something on the Grommet that reminded me of your BF.
Work has been kicking my ass lately but I'm enjoying it. Looking forward to the GTG!
Oh, really? What was it? He's getting ready to launch his Kickstarter campaign in a couple weeks. Yikes!
I feel the same way about work. I'm looking forward to the GTG, too, and I'm glad you'll be able to make it!
It was a bit similar to his product (but totally not as awesome). I'm sure he knows about it but I'll PM you--always good to know who else is in your market!
(I will eventually stop feeling like I'm playing some kind of hot potato with the juggling, right?) - lie to me, it's ok
7lb 11oz 20.75in long
Name is H's dad's middle and H's middle (my choice, I dislike the men in my family)
Had a fairly uneventful Pitocin induction, as uneventful as these things go. No tearing (a concern, previous epi/cut scar and tearing). Start to finish only had the epidural in for 2hours. Everything was good with him. Had a little concern due to decels but got my butt in the right position and only pushed for 12 minutes. Had hems, made them a little worse, that part of recovery sucks.
