I wish them all the best - as someone who understands how precious and fleeting life can be, any decision to spend more time as a family is a good one.

While I think their blog went downhill a while ago, I am actually shocked they are done. I'm curious what will happen to their second book that they are supposed to be working on.
I hope they continue to blog, but sporadically and when they have something good to share. But I agree with the others that things needed to change. For them, and for the readers.

I'm happy to see them take time off.
However, I *highly* doubt that this is the last we'll see of them. I wonder if they'll come back with a different blog or different type of blog or go back to their roots on message boards (Hi Sherry! Welcome home!)
I am really surprised they pulled the plug. I am a little disappointed because even though I have strongly disliked most of their decorating decisions, their cheapness, and their tone, I was rooting for them to turn things around. I think they really backed themselves into a corner by over sharing so much personal information, and posting so frequently and on such a predictable schedule. I think they didn't know how to change by either posting sporadically, only when they had something good to share, or adopting a more "professional" tone, like centsational girl, and leaving out the personal details.
They would have needed to rebrand soon anyway. The whole premise of being a young couple just starting out on their first place wasn't fitting anymore. I hope if marital problems are true, that it works out.

I'm surprised but think they have to be burned out. I haven't followed them too much lately because I think their posts are to long and wordy! It is interesting to see that it was 30 days to the day that they called it quits. I did read somewhere that they were having marital problems.
Well I'm going to admit it. I will miss their blog. I haven't been a huge fan since the move, but it's been around for so long that I'll have a little YHL empty void. (In the past months I've mostly been scrolling through their blogs, but still. I guess it counts as a view.)
In critical terms, did anyone notice their farewell blog only has about 1600 comments compared to the 5500+ their break announcement got?

I'm late to this party, for some reason I still thought they were on a break and hadn't called it quits. I didn't love them, but I checked in monthly or so on their blog. I'm pretty surprised they decided to do this. However after 7 years of moderating all comments - including numerous troll comments, I'm sure it was getting old and tiresome to put so much out there. I hope it wasn't something drastic like threats or hate info about their family/location or a marital problem, but instead just a decision to live on savings while they find a new angle to their careers.
