So...uh.....I'm pretty new at the TTC game, but I'm 9-10 DPO (I got a positive OPK but wasn't temping, so I am guessing between 9-10 DPO) and am having some spotting that is much different than my usual periods. This is my first cycle. I NEVER spot in between periods so I'm a little freaked out. Okay...a lot freaked out. I have no less than FOUR client dinners over the next 7 days, all of which will involve wine. Please assure me that I am okay to drink wine this early on if I am indeed pregnant? This is a dumb question right?
I fully realize that because it's only my 2nd cycle off BC and 1st cycle trying that the odds are NOT in my favor, but my sister got pregnant BOTH times during the same time frame....so I feel like I should be prepared anyway.
I had spotting last month for the first time ever in between O and CD1 and it was just random cycle changes. I'm also one who plans on drinking til there's a positive test.
I hope this is it for you! I had IB with my first pregnancy, and agree that you're fine to drink a bit even if you get a +. I got a positive the day we left for France, where we had reservations for tasting at champagne houses. You don't even share a blood stream at that point (I was 4w!), so I tasted.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Your body can take several months after coming of BCP for your body to regulate itself. I think even up to a year isn't unheard of (but certainly in the extreme minority) depending on how long you were on the pill for.
Spotting could be IB or it could be your body figuring things out. TTC is a mindfuck and even the tiniest little thing can convince you that you're ku.
I would still have some wine, I just wouldn't drink to excess, which I assume you're not since you said it's a working dinner.
Thanks everyone. I did a ton of reading about fertility, getting pregnant, etc. but haven't actually read much about what to do when you GET pregnant because I honestly have figured it would take a while. I agree that is likely a long shot that I got pregnant this cycle but had no clue what to do if it happened. Other than freak out.
I'm in your position Woowoo... First month trying, and I'm already being a total newbie about it and convinced that everything is a symptom. Am I hungry or nauseous? Normally I spot before my period and I haven't spotted yet! Do I normally pee this often??? At the moment I'm trying not to be a jackass and test way, way too early

It really depends on each woman. I spot 7 days before I start my actual period each month. I always think its implantation spotting but has never been. Since you're adjusting after bc it's hard to say if it is IB or its your new normal or its a whacky cycle. Good luck in your journey and welcome to the frustration that can be TTC!

I did have IB with my pregnancy. It happened exactly 7 days after my IUI, was bright red at first, then a small bit of brownish stuff for about 48 hrs after. It was typical for me to spot for a few days before my period so I thought it was just getting started early, but instead of increasing into a period it stopped completely so I tested on the day I expected to be CD1 and got a BFP.
As for drinks, I enjoyed 2 delicious Prosecco cocktails the night before my BFP, thinking my period was coming any minute based on the cramping I had. I'm really glad I had them because it will be a while before I have any more!
I had it with my pregnancy with Andy. About 5 days of heavy spotting the week before my period, and then it stopped completely right around what should have been my first period day. That's when I tested and got the BFP.
This second BFP, I also spotted from 11-14 dpo and finally got a BFP when the spotting stopped on 15dpo. eta: although I suppose that could have been something else, because I miscarried about a week and a half later. So who knows.
