I like it. I love the spiral staircase. But there is no way I could stomach that price! Holy cow! But it sounds like that's normal. How long of a lease is it? Could you take it for now and move again later (inconvenient, I know)?
Lurker but I like it!! We rented an apartment in Kensington on vacation (at Allen house) and this is much nicer!! I have no idea what the going rate is there but if it's comparable to other places then I think it's really nice

It's a gorgeous apt that's for sure, but at that price for a 1br my heart stopped for a second. I could MAYBE understand if you owned it, but even then that price would still leave me cringing. But this is just my newbies opinion.

I love it!! So does that couch turn into a bed?
I don't know the market over there but from what you have mentioned and knowing the prices compared to here I think its as good as you can get. And worse case you start hunting again in 7 months or so to see if you can break at 8 months. And for now its convenient to work and other amenities but once you get the lay of the land better maybe you'll find other neighborhoods that work as well.
It looks lovely and as that seems typical for price and space I think it's worth a go. After all, as you mentioned, you can always break the lease after 8 months if you just absolutely hate it. But convenience to work and a grocery store are pretty awesome. And at least you'll be living somewhere that isn't a hotel. I'm sure it'll feel more homey as you get settled in, get a routine, that sort of thing.
I think that is a great size for Kensington! Plus there is a Whole Foods on High Street so it will be kind of like home. I stayed in the Copthorne in Kensington for five weeks in 2007. I loved walking around that neighborhood.
Love it! It looks very modern, clean and pretty spacious. The price definitely sucks, but hopefully you'll be happy there, if not, like the others said you can move in 8 months!
Wow, it looks beautiful, Rock! Very modern, great kitchen! I know places in London are small, so it will be an adjustment but I think it looks like a great option! Good luck!
I think it looks great - but Kensington is a swanky swanky neighbourhood and thus mega pricy. You could probably find something more reasonably priced if you're willing to change neighbourhoods. But im assuming you've intentionally picked the neighborhood.
Many of my friends live in clapham, dalston, stoke newington and islington - which should all be a bit less steep (islongton is still expensive though) but would be less convenient probably.
I think it's super cute! OMG at the price, but you've said before it is the cost of having this experience. Maybe knowing it isn't forever will make it easier to stomach? It's an adorable apartment.

This is exactly my thought, well said!
I am now in danger of losing it if the money I've wired from the U.S. to my U.K. account doesn't show up first thing in the morning. I put in the request this morning at like 8am EST but because of the currency conversion there's a one-day delay. Aaaargh. Really it's my own fault because I should have just transferred money a while ago.
This is exactly something that I would do. I hope you still get the place. Fingers crossed for you!
Honestly, I think it's great. I pay $2100 for a one-bed in Back Bay so $1k for a two floor apt in a sick neighborhood in of the world's most expensive cities sounds about right. You'd pay that for a high rise apt in Boston in a luxury building without being in London. I know it's not MM but nothing in London is.

Yep, you're right. I think part of not being excited is that I don't like being off Cromwell Rd. I hate walking up and down that street. FWP, boohoo for me.
But you'll be right by the grocery (insert MM something about being close to a grocery and only shopping for what you need here). haha
