Other than the counter people showing up at 9 am instead of the 1- 3 pm they were supposed to show up, everything went well except the edging is wrong.
We ordered a bevel edge and got a plain edge. If we wanted to change it, they have to come and remove everything and take it back to shop, re-edge and return it next day (they can do it as is installed, but prefer not to as it's messy and I prefer not to have to clean dust from everything again and I'm so over not having a functioning kitchen for three months)
We can live with it. What kind of discount would you ask for?
They really, really want us to be happy as that's how they keep their Home Depot business.

So I am not so familiar with the names of countertop edges. Can you post a picture that shows the plain edge vs. the bevel? Is the one you got the standard/flat and you wanted the 1/4 bevel from this?
I think I'd let it be b/c the standard is a bit timeless IMO. Also how much did you pay, b/c I think just a 5% discount for a different edge that is good is fine, but it depends on costs a little.
I didn't realize how much of a big deal the edge is until our granite was installed. I hated the edge. Hated! Personally, I would have them do it right. But if you think you can live with it and like it, ask for a discount. If you are iffy about it, what's one more day? Make them get it right.
On the chart above, we were supposed to get the 1/4 Bevel and we got the Flat, or maybe the Eased, it's hard to tell the difference. Both options were free of charge, so we didn't pay any extra for the bevel one we were supposed to get.
Although I was at my boss's brand new $1 million dollar house the other day and her counters had the bevel and I was thinking how much I liked it. But the other one is fine, we can live with it.
If it had been any of the other ones, except for maybe the Radius, they would have to do something else. I don't care for them.

I think I prefer the flat, so (IMO, of course) I'd think of it as a happy accident.
That said, you did not get what you wanted, so they should offer you a discount to make it right. Was it correct on your paperwork? If so, I think I'd probably ask for 25% off, expecting to negotiate, but settle for 10%.

You sound so unenthusiastic about the counters. This should be ideally be something you love not just something that you "can live with." I would have them fix it, especially since they offered. It might be inconvenient, but the discount won't really make you love it.

This. Flat is more current IMO so I'd stick with it unless it's going to drive you crazy.

Have they actually installed it? If not, I would have them take it back and bevel it. If they have glued it down and all, though, I would not want to take the risk to my cabinets, etc. of prying it back up. I would ask for 10% off the total cost of the granite.
So they were already installed. A whole nother story but the installers were supposed to come between 1 and 3, but they were there at 9 am and I didn't find out until 10:45 am when the contractor called to see where we wanted the soap dispenser installed, so it was a little too late to take them back and have them re-do.
They offered $300 discount, I asked for $400, and the manager said OK as long as we were completely happy with them (this is how they keep their HD business). Maybe could have gotten a little more. So it ended up being a little over a 15% discount. I'm happy with that. It doesn't bother me at all, it's just an edge and the least exciting thing in the kitchen and I doubt anyone will ever notice it and think the kitchen would have looked better with a different counter edge.
Plus we saved $2K going with this granite instead of our first choice (because we didn't care for the slab), so that was another bonus.
