I have been trying to be really good with my money, but my lap top battery ished the bed and I really want to buy a new lap top. I really want a Mac , but that so is not in my budget! Wahmmmmbulence please!

I'm a little hungover and I'm volunteering with habitat for humanity today

My sister was over last night and she wants to fix me up with her husband's friend. So she was showing me his picture on Facebook. And then I accidentally sent him a friend request. And he accepted. Yikes! Now what do I do. Apparently he knows about the intent to set us up.

Today I have work then a wine and whisky tasting for Make a Wish. I'm on the committee and don't like the people or the way it's being run so I don't want to go but thankfully have a friend who is donating a case of wine from her company dropping it off so we're going to go for an hour then head to a country bar for honky tonking! It's usually hard to get in so we got reservations with the social media manager--woot woot for marketing/blogging perks!

I got a Macbook Air and financed it without interest for a year abcdefu but a lot of people like Acers too.
@bk you should play it off and/or admit to the awkward, "Oh sister say you were nice so we checked you out on FB and oops, guess we're friends now!" You're awesome and beautiful so any humility will be endearing

abcdefu look into a Mac mini. I have one, and you need to BYO monitor and keyboard but it's a cheaper option for an awesome mac. Not a laptop though.

What's new in my world - just finished up my neuro rotation and back at school till December for the last classes I'll take of my doctoral career. They're super easy so I'm spending most of my days finishing up my research and hanging out with friends. I'm dating a great guy and most of my days are centered around having as much fun as possible. I have a fundraiser to go to with him this weekend and I'm very excited to pull out a fancy dress and dance the evening away.

Finally Friday!!!

Nothing planned tonight, will go to the gym then just stay in. I'm excited for tomorrow! Me, P, and his son are renting a car and going pumpkin picking out by my moms house, supposed to be a beautiful Fall day! Then we're going to play mini-golf, then go to my moms. Both my brothers will be there and my mom is taking all of us out for a birthday dinner for me!

I also took off work Monday so I have a 3 day weekend. Sunday night I'll go to P's to sleep over, he also has off on Monday so we're planning to just relax together.

I'm out early today as DD and I are going to get our hair done. Then we'll do dinner or something before I drop her off with her Dad.

Tomorrow it's lunch, early dinner (?) with lyssbobiss, Command, B613, wowhead, and wysiwyg. After that, I have no idea.

Took my measurements this morning and I'm down 4 lbs and 14.25 inches-I'm thrilled.  Now I'm going to start adding pack in lean muscle with more protein.

Fingers and toes crossed that P has a good day today since he's back to school.

I'm hoping my lawyer files things quickly with our previous county.  It's hard to keep putting XH of.

I got a written notice from DCSS that they've been unable to locate XH and there's an open CS case on him.  I thought that was strange.  He DID pay last month and he's not even 30 days late yet.  Very strange.

So happy it's Friday! Tonight I'm meeting up with friends at their campsite to hang out. I would camp all weekend with them, but I already had plans made, including breakfast with a friend tomorrow, followed by a hike and then friends coming over for college football. Sunday I hope to get some errands done and relax...the past few weekends have seemed so busy, it will be nice to have a little downtime!

I'm wearing my glasses today, which is always weird for me. I feel great about them for a few hours, and then I feel like a frump. I need to get over that. I also need to get these adjusted -- they're 2 years old and a little bent out of shape. Really, I'd like to get another pair, but I'm not sure it's in the budget right now.

After work, I'm having dinner with an old friend from college. I haven't seen him in a few years, and we don't really keep in touch very well, but I adore him, and it means a lot to me that he reaches out when he'll be in the area.

I'm contemplating applying for a new job. I should do it. Everyone I talk to says I should. But I hate change, and I love my boss, so it's a slightly terrifying prospect.

You need to contact DCSS and get your account straight. I would hate for you to be penalized because of something that might be their mistake.

I am so excited it is finally Friday!

I'm leaving work early today and meeting a former coworker for lunch. I can't wait to catch up with him and hear all the gossip about what's happened in the last couple of months at my old office. And just catch up with him, period. We sat next to each other and used to chat daily, I miss him and the other woman who sat next to us so much.

Then I'm taking off to see my sister and nephew for the weekend in Chicago! BIL will probably be working much of the weekend so I'm excited for some girl time and to check out my nephew since he's grown and changed so much since I saw him last (he's 9 months old and I haven't seen him since early August, so it's going to be like a different baby came along). I feel like I NEVER talk to my sister these days so I'm just really excited to hang out with her.

Side note- I just found out starting January my company is going to start offering a simple IRA with company match. This was one of my "to-dos" starting in 2015 to get my retirement savings on track so I'm so excited!!

I got back to work yesterday from vacation and I am drowning over here with work and I cant seem to focus on what I have to do.

I finally finished the course that I was taking and we had a small graduation ceremony yesterday. I am going out to celebrate today with the one classmate I really hit it off.

I totally feel you on that! Years ago I got a cold sore, and BF (at the time) wouldn't kiss me. I could understand why he wouldn't kiss me when the cold sore was still visible, but he didn't want to kiss me at all even after it healed! His excuse? "I plan to work in the public sector (as PR in some capacity) and it wouldn't look good if I had a cold sore, and they are very contagious." It definitely took a toll on our sex life. On the one hand, I had a hard time getting in the mood without kissing, and on the other hand, it seemed like I was being penalized for having had a cold sore. And also like I was damaged goods, like I was good enough to fuck, but not to kiss. Needless to say, that relationship didn't last.

1- BT's company has WORLD SERIES TICKETS !!!!!!!! the cheapest ticket is currently $700  think good thoughts that I somehow manage to wrangle a ticket to game 3 or 4

2- on the way to daycare this morning - dd once again proved she's ALOT older than her 5 years and she's experienced things that no 5 year old should experience ..... we drove past xh's residential rehab place and dd said ' that's poppa's special hospital, he didn't want to get better, he wanted to stay sick' ugh ... she's FIVE !!!! it kills me as her mom that she 1- knows about it 2- UNDERSTANDS what happened

she's going to be a blast at Red Ribbon Week next week ... I'm already starting w/ the 'DO NOT talk about what poppa did !!' she's too young to have firsthand experience about the destruction that drug use causes *sigh*

So jealous! I'll think positively that you get some tickets, then hate you for getting to go to a WS game . I've been a baseball fan for over 20 years, but don't have the sense to follow a team that will get to the WS any time soon. I guess I should be thankful that my team won the Superbowl last year.

Ahhh...two good teams to watch. My main team is the Padres ( ), and I have a couple of other teams that I keep up with, but none have sniffed the WS in a while.


ETA: Also, I just want to say that I am so glad the Giants saved us from an All-Missouri World Series!

My 'like' was for #1, in case that's not obvious

W/r/t #2 Let me tell you something about growing up with an addict parent.  One thing I was ALWAYS grateful for was that my mom was very honest with me.  I never really had questions I couldn't get answers to.  Obviously, I got age-appropriate answers from my mom, and she tried to shield me as best she could, but she knew she couldn't shield me/control things 100%.  One of the repercussions of that was I never EVER felt like I had to hide or be ashamed of my dad.  His poor decisions did not reflect who I was.  I wasn't embarrassed to tell people that my dad was in jail.  He made a bad decision and he's paying the price now.  MOVING ON.  It prevented other kids from picking on me if they found out because I wasn't ashamed of it; they couldn't exploit me.

It also helped when my parents divorced because I knew why.  It wasn't my fault.  I never tried to get them back together.  It was pretty easy for me.

Now.  There's always the other side of the coin.  And it's something I didn't recognize until 5 or 6 years ago.  I have really high emotional walls.  Relationships, especially my relationship with XH, were very logic-based to me.  Because of the addiction issues I dealt with as a kid and watching how my mom (a scientist and attorney, keep in mind) handled herself and me, I ended up with a strange skew to my view of marriage.  I based myself as a wife on how I perceived my mother when I was growing up.  She had it together, always.  She was in charge.  Logic, fact, no emotion.  Keep the ship afloat.  

TL;DR - it's ok that she understands more than you think she should at her age.  It can be a positive as she grows up.  But make sure you let her see that it's ok to be scared.  That sometimes YOU'RE scared, hurt, angry, etc., but that she is always the most important.  Talk to her about addiction and the illness that has its grasp on her dad.  DON'T give her details about your relationship with him.  DON'T let her be your only place to vent/talk about details she doesn't need to have.  (One of the things my therapist said to me in my ver first session was, "So you became your mom's only confidant at what? 6?  She should have found someone else.")  Encourage her to ask questions and tell you about how she feels and how she is processing everything.  Let her be vulnerable and let her know that you are vulnerable too sometimes.
