I heard from my doctor this morning with the results of my pelvic ultrasound. She said that my tubes and ovaries are within the normal ranges for volume and morphology. My uterus showed minor calcification but not enough to be "clinically significant." I, of course, turned to Google and I don't have super heavy or long periods (a symptom of calcification) nor do I have bleeding after intercourse, but I do have fairly uncomfortable cramps on the first day of real bleeding but then they basically disappear once things are flowing. The research I've been doing says that it's possible for the calcification to grow into fibroids or cysts, but since my levels are not clinically significant this doesn't seem to be the case with me. The calcification also isn't enough for her to warrant ordering other tests, so I guess that's good.
I have to make an appointment with my naturopathic doctor now that I have these results and the results of my abdominal ultrasound/extra bloodwork so hopefully she will be able to tell me a bit more about how this can affect fertility.
Does anyone else have calcification of the uterus? How has it affected your TTCing?
I admittedly don't know anything about this, but if your OB said it's not clinically significant and isn't concerned about it then I wouldn't be concerned about it.
Did you discuss this with the OB at all or are you only going to discuss it with the alternative doctor? If you have concerns I would start with the MD who ordered the test.
I will talk to her about it the next time I see her. Because we're only in cycle 7 of TTCing I get the feeling she's pretty much done with testing since what we've done so far hasn't turned up anything significant. She's a good listener but I kind of feel like she's patronizing me sometimes because we're under the 1 year mark. She pretty much keeps telling me to relax (and we all know how helpful that is).
My naturopathic doctor specializes in fertility and pre-conception support so I will talk to her about it and see what she thinks.

i'm sorry you feel like she's being patronizing, but i really don't think you should write her off since she's got the medical degree, ya know? and even without ANY issues at all, it can take longer than you've been trying to get PG. it's hard to not look at things through the TTC looking glass, and wanting it to happen asap, but i think you'll drive yourself nuts with tons of testing when so far everything is okay and you're still well within the "normal" time frame.

I agree with this. Are you close to 35 or something, is that what's making you concerned at this early stage?
I agree with the above. I understand that each month it gets harder but the tests are all showing good news. Everything is coming back normal and really the only thing your MD can do at this point is give it some time. She seems proactive and I think if you aren't pregnant in another 3 or 4 cycles she would be happy to discuss next steps.

also, we've been trying since january and haven't seen a doc yet. i get sad every month i'm not PG, but i'm also trying to keep things fun with DH, and not make everything all babies, all the time. there's plenty of time for the tests and the doc appts and the worries...i'm not ready to borrow trouble just yet.
I'm also from Ontario and I agree that you probably aren't going to get much further testing until you've hit the magical 1 year mark . Doctor's here are tied to the OHIP requirements, and unless something came back as a cause for concern they aren't able to justify additional testing.
Considering that I come from a huge family that is littered with 'oops' babies all over the place, I've been pretty shocked at how long it has taken DH and I to get pregnant while trying with good timing, etc. Having a chemical pregnancy after a whole 6 months of trying sucked, especially because now it blows away all of my plans for having next summer off, which I really wanted due to having two good friends with weddings, and I am the breadwinner with no top up of EI so only intended to take 8 months off, of which 3 were supposed to be in the summer so I wouldn't have to waste what paid vacation I have on getting to those weddings. Now I'm looking at late August at the earliest and TTA one cycle to avoid being due on my best friend's wedding date.
Which is all to say - everyone has very different expectations of how this process will go. Unfortunately, we can only plan so much and the rest is out of our hands. I'm glad all of your tests have come back well and I don't think that there is anything wrong. Being on this board and opening up with other people has really shown that everyone's path is different, but pretty much everyone gets there in the end. Fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone. For the record, H and I haven't asked for any of these tests. The bloodwork panel I had done was because I was a new patient, and since she knew we were TTCing she added the hormone levels (FSH, LH, P) in since they were taking blood anyway. Same deal with the ultrasound, I was having an abdominal one since one of my liver levels and my iron came back elevated and since they were already "in the area" she ordered the pelvic one. It's the same with H's SA, he went to the doctor for a physical since he hadn't been in 4 years (don't even get me started on that) and since he told his doctor we were TTCing he ordered a SA. She said that after a year she would refer us to an RE. I haven't written her off, I really do generally like her I just get the feeling like she's rolling her eyes behind my back.
While it may seem that way, we haven't made our life all about babies, while we do talk about it and plan for my FW we still do plenty of other fun couple stuff.
