She liked a RealFarmacy article about how the flu vaccine is more dangerous than the flu. I knew she didn't like getting the flu shot (she threw a shit fit about it when we asked her to get one last flu season when they were watching M), but if she thinks her DoTerra oils will protect her against the flu, she is sorely mistaken. And no way in hell is she coming around B without a flu shot.
It is hilarious and sad that people are freaking out about Ebola and then act like the flu is NBD.
Seriously!! I am so mad right now and want to tell her how stupid she's being. She has no idea that RealFarmacy is scientifically inaccurate and has been disproven a hundred times, but she won't listen and will just think I'm attacking her personally. Um, no, just trying to help keep you healthy. And she said last year that she just washed her hands a lot and she stays healthy.
I'm posting this. People who are all "meh" about the flu shot and then freak out about Ebola drive me crazy. Also driving me crazy is the news coverage of Ebola when whooping cough, measles, and enterovirus are more prevalent.

I have a Facebook friend who was freaking out about Ebola and she said good thing she is upping her essential oils. First, you are NOT going to get Ebola. But if in the HIGHLY unlikely chance that you do, essential oils are not going to help.
I just quickly skimmed this, but is this saying that it will take 50 white people dying before they will get on the stick to come up with a vaccine for this? If so, it's tragic but maybe true.

Yeah, I understand that. It just made me sad, because I don't know that it's that far off. I'm sure if American's start getting sick on the regular, there will be a bigger push for it.

People say that not vaccinating is a choice for their family but in reality it hurts the people around them them. if they are around somebody who is immunocompromised they run the risk of getting that person sick and possibly killing that person.
I wonder if there was a vaccination against ebola how many of those anti vaccination people will line up.

I personally know someone who was healthy, got the flu, and died. Your SIL is a moron. I'm sorry.
This is what I want to tell her. Not to mention the fact that she wants to be able to be around my infant son who can't be vaccinated yet.
ETA: It's just making me more mad that she's just thinking about herself (something she's really good at, BTW) and not worrying about the fact that if she gets the flu, she can pass it to lots and lots of people before she even shows symptoms (including my son). It's just so socially irresponsible and I'm having a hard time not taking it personally for my son's sake.
Good thing is MIL (the person in our family she listens to the most) is on my side and told her 'too bad so sad' if she is even remotely not feeling well in any way that she can't hang out with the family. Sorry, not sorry.
I tried to convince J last night that we should ban her from seeing B at all during flu season since she doesn't get the shot and he thought I was going too far. I didn't think I was.

for a baby I don't think this is extreme at all. I mean, at some point we all go around in society and I realize a lot of people won't get the vaccine, but for children I do think it's reasonable to take extra precautions.
My SIL keeps sending friendly reminders for us to get vaccinated. I feel badly I haven't yet but the flu room at work has been PACKED. I can't imagine saying no to a new mom and also to be willing to put anyone else at risk for this.
I would absolutely ban someone unvaccinated from seeing my baby during flu season (unless they legitimately could not be vaccinated)

How do you not have your flu vac yet?! We got personal emails from our program director with threats to get out flu shot or we couldn't go to clinical.

We don't have clinicals this quarter.
Oooh I forgot you don't have clinicals every quarter!

My SIL is in this boat as well. She sells doTerra and was putting together her "Ebola warfare kit". I love her dearly but, no.
