The Art of Racing in the Rain, and yes, I like it.
I had low expectations, since books that everyone loves I'm usually meh about.
I started reading the first chapter and I was crying by the end. I told my husband, "stupid!" "What?" "I can't cry! This is a book narrated by a DOG and everyone loves it, but I figured it would be cheesy and now I'm crying already!" "Um... maybe you shouldn't read this book."

Mistress of the Art of Death No to pumpkin flavor. Sorry
itsme, I just finished Heart Shaped Box today, didn't like it. It felt like a badly written, wannabe Steven King story. I read part 1 and 2 of Miss Peregrine's, I'm dying for the 3rd.

QOTW: Yay
Oh, yeah. Ugly tears in chapter 1 for me, too.
I'm almost done with A Clash of Kings (still good; it's a re-read) and loving The Silkworm on audiobook.
I like real pumpkin e.g. pie, but don't love it as a flavored drink. Mostly because most flavorings are way too sweet.
I just finished a reread of Kate Racculia's This Must Be the Place. I've been distracted all week and it wasn't the best time for paying attention, but I love her writing.
QOTW: yum, pumpkin. As long as it's not overly sweet, though -- I'm looking at you, Starbucks PSL! Too much sugar.

I'm re-reading the Little House series. I'm about 4 chapters into By the Shores of Silver Lake, reading them in order. It's interesting because I haven't read them since college (20 years ago now -- ACK!!!) and I'm pleased they're holding up well.
QOTD: I'm not sure; I'm not really sure what the flavor actually is. Pumpkin-Spice everything wasn't big in my area when I left the US in 2010, and it's not a thing here. Pumpkin is a savory, not a sweet in Australia. I use a pumpkin-pie spice blend for my stewed apples and apple pies, but nothing else really. I do think the trend it's too, too much though. Not everything needs to be spiced.
I'm reading Needful Things by Stephen King. Really like it so far. Qotw: yes to all of the pumpkin, but also in the 'not too sweet' camp. I have to have them put half the amount in my pumpkin did coffee. I enjoy trying all the various pumpkin ale and beers, even hard ciders that come out. There are always so many new ones since it's gotten so popular.
I have finally gotten around to starting The Giver. I like it.
QOTW: yes, I love pumpkin, but one more person who thinks it is often made way to sweet. I am not pumpkin pie fan - anytime it is offered I find there are choices I like more (apple, pecan).
I'm reading The Scorch Trials by James Dashner (#2 in The Maze Runner trilogy). It's okay. I'm about halfway through and Brenda is annoying me.
Pumpkin: YES. I will try all of the pumpkin things. I bought a bunch of different pumpkin beers and have been trying them one a night. Some are great, some are not. And I might have purchased 4 packages of the pumpkin spice Oreos so far this year.

This is a good point - I have definitely been driving H crazy with pumpkin beer lately (I want to taste them all, he's bored after the first).
I definitely do *not* recommend Avery's Rumpkin. I felt like it needed to be watered down by about 3 to 1. Which might not be far off the mark given the fact that it's about 16% ABV.

I am loving Miss Peregrine!
I'm half way through Heart Shaped Box and it's still corny but not as bad as it was. I am definitely not calling this one a 5* but maybe a 3 so far. I don't quite know yet.

I need to add this one to my look-for list! 16% is crazy!

It is crazy. It's also really strong/sweet. I'd recommend no more than 1/4 of the 12 oz bottle, honestly. (It's also really expensive.)
I just finished Pet Sematary and I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! OMG. Horrifying.
Hmm, I picked this one up at my local thrift store for $0.25. You're saying I should return it without reading?
Do you have small children? I DO NOT recommend this book for anyone with small children. Actually, the hardest parts to read were about halfway through. By then, you can see exactly where the story is going, but I think what I imagined was coming was way worse than what actually happened. But I had to deal with that stressful anticipation for half the book! I know that's vague, but I don't want to give spoilers, you know.
Anyway, King is the master, so the book does not disappoint. But if you have small children, proceed with caution.

No children. I do have a dog. Will I be terrified of her forever after reading?

You'll be fine! You should totally read it now so we can discuss. I need to talk to someone!
SK makes you scare yourself more than he actually scares you. The little boy is a few months older than my little girl, so I had ALL the crazy, horrified feels going on.
