House was put on the market early July 2014. Received an offer two days later that fell through for stupid reasons. Received another offer in August that fell through for more stupid reasons.
But we finally sold it on Friday for $10k less than original price (but still $5k above our "worst acceptable price"). We did FSBO and saved about $10k in commission for that.
To make it MM: we will get new windows for our current house, replenish savings (we were pulling money out of savings each month to cover the empty house), start an investment account and possibly pay off the last of H's SLs.
Thanks for all the tough love and cheers through the process. (heart)
Question about FSBO: When it comes down to the final paperwork, do you just handle that all yourselves? Or can you pay someone for just that portion?
I think it's MUCH easier selling than buying without an agent. The buyer's agent provided us with all the paperwork we needed (contract, contingency forms, etc). The final paperwork (closing papers, loan pulling, HUD-1, etc) was all done by the title company, which we did pay. It was about $1500 for that.
