My first PR since 2012. I was seriously thinking that I may never PR again.
Everything went wrong for me too
- i swallowed a massive mouthful of nasty lake water and choked on it - my wetsuit would not come off and when it did, my chiming chip went flying - i had my bike shoes on my pedals but when i went to put my second foot in, my bike shoe fell off my pedal and flew backwards - there was a bike crash two bikes ahead of me (mostly it just shook me up) - i couldnt get my running shoes on in T2 - the run was hot and sunny and i had to walk through all the water stations since i cannot drink and run at the same time - i almost went the wrong way at the end (i had a lead bike for the entire run but like the last .1 mile i was on my own and i couldn't handle it, apparently)
but despite it all (and complete absence of speedwork and swimming), my Olympic triathlon time is now 2:23:27
hopefully I don't need to wait another 2 years to PR again, but guys, I AM NOT BROKEN!
i am not sure why i cant mentally get to the point to really train for something, but it's nice to finally get a PR, ya know? like a pat on the back for still being out there or something.
Amazing! i was wondering if you were racing today.
Screw seamless transitions! you're so damn fast!
I added it up - the wetsuit and the bike shoes cost me an extra 1 min and 40 seconds.
But I guess I just wouldn't be "me" if my transitions were not long and complicated, lol.
Awhile ago I was talking to my friend about how I wanted to do a new sport (just to get out the mental rut) and her suggestion to me was ski jumping. This still cracks me up because 1) I am scared of heights, 2) I hate snow, 3) Where the hell would would go to ski jump in Arizona? and 4) I am way too old to learn new tricks
But I do wish there were more multi-sport races that included stuff like roller blading. How fun would that be?
We have a quadrathlon in Feb, I'm guessing 4ish hours from you. I'm really hoping to do it in 16. It's a ride-run-xc ski-snowshoe, then repeat backwards back down the mountain.
I think there's some cousin of rollerblading that is good XC ski training! There you go!

ETA: oh, but snow
that sounds intriguing! i am open to snow sports that do not involve falling. the snow itself is fine, as long as my butt stays dry. i have a friend who is a professional triathlete and moved to colorado so she tried one of those races where you xc-ski and shoot a gun. i thought it was awesome how she stepped so much outside her box.
i just really need to learn how to mountain bike so that i can do xterra but i am scared.

That's awesome! I think it's biathlon? I love watching it during the Olympics - their fitness blows me away to be able to calm their heartrates that quickly for precision shooting, then ramp back up to race over and over.
I'm scared of mtb too --- not sure why that worries me more than the drivers right next to me.
(unrelated question ...H and I have been arguing over how long we can use or BOB Duallie with the twins. You are still using yours right? And your two are 4?)
