Someone dh knows was arrested last night. There was a rumor it was either a DUI or sexual assault (yeah, I know. Big difference but reports are conflicting)...so of course I have to google local arrest reports.
I can't find any information, but I happen to see the name of a hairstylist I have recently started to use. There is no question that it is her, arrested for grand theft with bond set at 10k. Her boyfriend was also arrested with it looks like 3 counts of ground theft.
I just noticed over the weekend that something is not quite right about highlights she just did for me and I Was going to call and see if she would take a look. Would you think twice about using this person? I am all about innocent until proven guilty, but I now feel weird that I know this information. A friend recommended her to me and has been recommending her all over town..I am not going to mention this to friend but I feel weird about that too!
Seriously though, unless she was some amazing colorist and was about to have her butt locked up and I needed my roots done super badly, no. Since it sounds as though she messed up your hair anyway, I wouldn't go back. I might call the salon to see if someone else could fix it for you.
If she was an incredible colorist and I didn't think I could find someone that was as good as she was.. maybe.
Otherwise, I'd find someone else.
Also, you seem to be surrounded by criminals, sheesh.
I was leaning towards not going back, but damn it she didn't get close enough to my hairline and I want it fixed for free bc she was expensive!!! But then I am also thinking...yeah, she also runs my credit card and I leave my purse at her station when i go sit under the dryer so...
Yes, halfway through our bathroom reno I found out that our contractor who I was in the house with alone every day and also left alone in our house when I needed to make quick runs to XYZ for materials did some serious time in his home state :/
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
Ditto PP: unless she's an amazing colorist (And if you're looking to have her fix something she messed up, how great can she really be?), I say cut your losses and find a new salon
LOL. Once I recommended a student for a scholarship, found out a week later he stole a car and used it for a string of robberies in town and my department chair said exactly that to console me.
OP - I wouldn't keep using her, I *might* have her fix the effed up color. If she were awesome I might keep going back without my purse on me and paying in cash.

How long ago was the charge? Is it her only charge or is there a pattern of theft charges in her past? (Note:the case search engine for my state shows past charges when you click on someone's name, I'm not suggesting that you do a full on background check on this chick or anything).
I would probably just have her fix my hair and then find someone else, not only because of her criminal past, but also because she fucked up your hair. You can only forgive so many things.
Lol, for real! readyin07, where do you live.. Rikers?
Close. Florida. The place all you other states like to send your criminals. Particularly NY. All three of the aforementioned people are former New Yorkers.
Don't go back to her. Also tell your friend who is recommending this stylist. That is ridiculous. You aren't obligated to have her do your hair. This isn't that difficult.
I MIGHT go back to have my hair fixed, but I wouldn't go again.
If I absolutely loved her work, I might go again, but I'd absolutely pay in cash. Stylists (& anyone who is tipped via CC) have to manually enter your tip. If no one is there to do checks & balances, she (or anyone) can easily change a $10 tip to a $40 with a quick change on your receipt. Then your signed copy looks like you tipped $40 instead of $10. Happens frequently!
I wouldn't go back because of the messed up highlights. If she were amazing, I'd probably keep using her and pay with cash. I have no idea what my stylist does in her free time.
I would not go back. 80% because, if charges are true, she's a criminal. 20% because she didn't even do a good job with your hair.
I would also tell my friend. I don't see a reason not to. "Hey, I Googled that hair stylist you recommended to me. Are you aware she was arrested for grand theft auto?"
