Tomorrow is my birthday. October is always a really difficult month at his job and he has been working ridiculous hours , was out of the country all last week, and knows that tomorrow he won't see us. So, this afternoon he says. "Since we can't celebrate on your birthday I want to make dinner tonight. ". Ok, great , very nice. - except he brings this up late afternoon when we have no food to make this dinner . So he goes to the grocery store. ...right after E wakes up from his nap (as opposed to going during nap OR bringing the kids with him to give me a break. But whatever, no big deal).
Makes a big dinner with about. 20 pots and pans . Then says " I'm sorry I left such a mess ". THEN!!!!! Then he tells the kids he got a cake for tonight, brings it out and gives it to them WHILE I AM SCRUBBING POTS! I mean, I don't need a full chorus of singing with candles and such , but maybe me being present ? And not DOING THE FREAKING DISHES ??
Seriously, it would be soooo easy to make a day special. Just take the kids and household drudgery off my hands for a bit , that's all that's needed. Clueless !!!!!!
Men. I feel like 99% of them read from the same book. This sounds exactly how this situation would go with mine. I'm sorry! Happy Birthday a little early!

May I come over and smack a little sense into him? I know he is surely a wonderful man, but come on! Happy early birthday and I hope tomorrow is great!

What a bozo! I hope the dinner was good at least.
I was going to make a similar post tonight because I just got V's bookbag out and her lunch from last week and dirty sheets are still in it. Thanks for putting her bookbag away, H. Big help.
He probably shopped without paying attention to prices of things too and spent more than a dinner out would have cost! At least that's what mine would have done. So i would be like you spent $100 on groceries and filled the place with dishes, we could have just gone out.
I'm sorry...that does sound so familiar though. They really are all cut from the same cloth. Mine also cooks with all the dishes at once and leaves them for me. Hope it was a good dinner!
Ugh, men! This is so typical and yet so annoying. I'm glad you bought all that stuff at Anthro!
Ha - I know I feel I can't complain to him because then he may make a comment on my excessive personal shopping over the past few weeks, lol.
Sorry, came over from ML when I saw this post on latest & just wanted to wish you a wonderful day!! And also that I'm a fellow Oct Bday & I completely agree w/ your thought process on recent purchases. Not sure if it's doable, but in my HH, Oct sort've gets a no questions pass asked re: fashion purchases. It is my Bday month, after all... Sorry your h is clueless, but you make sure you still enjoy your awesome day!!
