As far as the tainted meat, I don't know or remember how the comic arc ended with that - I just remember that Dale yells he is tainted meat and all the hunters try to make themselves throw up what they've just eaten. I feel like Bob is playing the long game with them though and they won't have the barf option.

Rick was right. They should have exterminated terminus. F'ers. Has the possibility that only Georgia's been infected been discussed? I think about it all the time. They only ever get so far as a number of days walking before they try to camp for safety. Maybe the end will be them getting to the Georgia border only to discover the national guard? Too 28 days later?
i will say that i can stand a lot of gore, but seeing garreth eat bobs leg right in front of him made me throw up in my mouth a little. and to be all "mmmmmm, dark meat. you taste good." blreg.
i am just glad he didn't try and feed bob his own leg
I don't know if anyone here watches Hannibal, but that happened on there. it was crazy.
The guy who plays Ty was on Talking Dead and he said that Ty was as surprised as everyone else that the guy lived because he thought he was dead. He said something about blood coming out his ears and assuming he was dead.

Double-tap!!! This is not a hard concept, people. Wouldn't he have wanted to put a bullet in his head anyway, just so he wouldn't be surprised by a walker when he was alone with Judith?
i also dont believe that Rick and Co are the only ones that know you dont have to get bit to turn. in the 18ish months since the start of the ZA, i am sure more than one group has had someone just die and then turn and they figured it out.
Yes, agreed - you'd think so. Now that I'm thinking in this way - what was the deal with the guy on the butcher's table when Rick, Glenn, etc were lined up at the trough? His head looked intact, right?
I'm still not clear why eating human flesh doesn't turn you. I'm hoping that eating Bob-b-que turns them though, if he was bitten in the basement. That would be a great end for Gareth & crew: one of them turns and eats the rest.
The gov definitely knew. And we have no reason to think Terminus didn't know. Who else obviously didn't know that should have?
not that they didnt know, but you would think that if everyone knows the virus is inside of us that cannibalism would be a bad fucking idea. unless they think cooking the meat would kill the bugs
Knowing these toolboxes, they experimented on someone before they actually ate any human meat.
But ... have they eaten anyone before who had been bitten but just hadn't turned yet? I was really thinking that Bob was bitten, based on how he was acting. But, I think he'd have turned by the point that they kidnapped him, transported him somewhere, took off a leg, cooked it, and had a conversation with him about it. If he was feeling wonky at the church, wouldn't it have happened by then?
I feel pretty confident that he was bitten, simply because Scott Gimple has included a lot of moments from the comics and the "tainted meat" story line is a pretty iconic one. I think we'll get that. Whether they can make it make sense with cannibals and what we know, IDK. Maybe we'll see them start to feel sick? The thing is, with the zombie thing - the virus kills you from the bite, then you die. Then you reanimate. So, it seems like the bite just hastens your death, which leads to turning since everyone does that regardless of how they die unless they are shot in the head. Even Hershel's head turned zombie last season.
I suppose it could make sense that ingesting meat that has been tainted with a bite could expose you to the virus that kills people who are bitten and then kills you? I'm assuming also that any animals that have been ravaged by zombies weren't eaten by humans even after being cooked... it seems they just leave those - like the ones caught in the traps in the beginning of season 4?

im trying to remember this. tell me more.
i would think that if you set a trap to get an animal and a zombie got to it first you wouldnt eat it at all, infected meat or no. just like people dont, routinely, eat roadkill.
Yeah that's what I meant... they had some animal (deer, I think) caught in a trap and they just left it because zombies had gotten to it and didn't eat it. So, I guess my point is - with eating humans - wouldn't one bite be the same as far as a partially eaten animal - and you would therefore not eat it because it might risk infecting you? So I think in the world TWD operates in, it would be consistent for a bitten human - who is eaten by other humans to cause them to be exposed to the bite virus that kills humans.
Because every time we've seen someone get bit, they get the fever, get sick and basically die. Then they reanimate. I'm almost 100% sure that they don't turn from the bite. They die first from the fever/virus, then turn after dying as a human.
I wonder if they will play a long game with this story line, because in the comics I think Dale pretty quickly says he's tainted meat and the hunters try to barf up the "tainted meat." But I wonder if they will have Bob start to get a fever/sick and possibly some of the Terminus folks start to feel sick (like fever/virus/bite symptoms) and then he yells TAINTED MEAT. lol.
I also imagine there will be some confrontation between the Terminus people and the group before that happens. I guess my preference at this point is that Bob starts to develop the fever and it's slow (sort of like Jim S1), the Terminus people are still sort of hunting Rick's group looking for their next victim. A few of them start to feel sick... confrontation, TAINTED MEAT, Rick delivers justice to all the Terminus assholes.
i really dont like bob sacrificing himself like that.
i dont understand why he would hide a bite if he knows we can just chop it off. so why was he all mopey crying in the woods, coming to terms with dying?
now he has no choice, so i can see him going "HOW YOU LIKE THAT MEAT YOU FUCKERS!!!!"
but before, man, he didn't have to accept it. but i guess it moves the story along.
I wonder if he was bit on his torso or something? IDK.
So, I didn't read the comics. Dale was being eaten, while alive, and he warned them that he was infected? Fuck that shit. Why wouldn't he let them just get sick?
The hunters don't survive long enough for us to know what happens if someone eats tainted meat. As gross as it sounds, I hope they let us know in the show what does happen.
Also, with the tree markings. The straight line that they left after getting Bob, was that a follow through of the swing at Bob or intentional? If they are leaving these markings, what does that make of the crazy guy in the box car? I figured they were his groups markings, but now maybe not. Did the Termites brand him with the markings? I cannot remember if he had them when he returned Mary to the boxcar.
Really though, about being out in the "wild" (so to speak) and hunting humans - wouldn't it seriously be easier to set up some traps and eat small game? I can see the logistics of it when you had advertisements all over the place, and people - victims - were walking through your front doors. But now? I say you need to learn a new survival tool. Hunting and BBQing humans doesn't seem to be very cost effective.
Question for the comic readers: are they still coming out with new comics? Or is it finished?
I don't read the comics, but read the wiki pages on them. Yes, they are still making the comics. I think last year at the end of the season they said they have about 5? Seasons worth of material just this far.
I am confused about Bob and Gareth's conversation--I thought it indicated that Bob had known him other than just with Rick and the gang.
What was Bob's back story? I can't remember.
You're right, he did say something like "it's funny that it's you that we caught ...." Did he just mean that Bob was one of the guys at the trough, seconds away from being killed? And that Bob was the one who got Gareth to pause for a moment (when Gareth pulled down Bob's face mask and let him talk)? Or was there something else?
We don't know much about Bob except he was a member of two different groups that had been overrun and was the sole survivor both times. He said it was his curse.
I go back and forth on Bob knowing the Termites. I don't believe he knew them at the cannibal time or else he would not have gone to Terminus. But there is a lot of hinting that he had more of a relationship with him. I would see Gareth speaking to Rick in that manner even with the little interaction they had, but with Bob it seems like something more. Also, the title of the episode is Strangers and they like to play with the titles.
It sucks that Bob may die. He has the only medical knowledge and just as it seems to be ending for him, his character is getting interesting. I don't think they will keep another one legged character.

I love gory movies, that scene on Hannibal turned my stomach. I could not watch it. It was horrific.

No, the Terminus people did know. I could've sworn in the first Talking Dead they said that's why they had to prepare the "meat" quickly after they made the kill.

I don't like him at all and Tyrese is starting to get on my nerves too. Yea, they might come through at the end, but they always screw something up along the way. I do think Bob was bitten, that last kiss with Sasha right before he walked out was weird. Like he was saying goodbye.
Btw, can anyone answer: just how bad is Father Gabriel? On TD they discussed his reaction toward the walkers and I agreed with them. After all this time, no one should be that terrified. It makes me think that either he's acting or that he's always had people do his dirty work for him.

In the comics, he's not bad so much as he's a coward. He basically locked everyone out of his church and wouldn't let them in so they died/turned. I think he's still alive in the comics, but kind of faded into the background.
