My two have been eating in their high chairs since they were big enough to sit. We have two FP Space Saver chairs. They are starting to look like giants in those things and I am wondering what everyone is doing for meal times. I would think a restaurant style booster would work.
I remember sitting on old phone books and Sears catalogs as a kid. Don't have those around anymore.
Another vote for the FP booster with waist straps. We've had B in it since September of last year - he was fighting being in a high chair, but amazingly would hop into the booster. He actually gets upset if we don't buckle the straps. Just beware in the summertime of chubby thighs, my H has pinched poor B with the clips several times.

Tyler is in a booster seat and has been for a long time. We don't strap him in anymore. He knows if he is not sitting like a big boy, we will strap him down.
She sits in a FP booster but we don't buckle it anymore. I think we will skip the big highchair for C and buy another FP booster and use the tray for C.
We've always had her in the FP space saver booster. We have a built in breakfast nook and she started at the head of the table strapped to a chair. Now the booster sits unstrapped on one of the benches. We strap her in if she's misbehaving. Otherwise she stands/kneels on the bench.

90% of the time, she sits in a regular chair and it's miserable. She's always getting up. So tonight I put her in the booster chair and she kept unbuckling herself and it was even worse than normal. I don't recommend a booster with a push button release.
C alternates sitting in a regular chair, using this booster seat (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006OKS994/ref=pd_aw_sbs_2?pi=SS115&simLd=1), or sitting in high high chair (his choice of which).
He refused his high chair for about a year but now magically likes it again. It's the Boon one with a pneumatic lift. I ditched the tray and lowered it to table level so he can use it like a regular chair.
We've never used the straps on his high chair (I'm too lazy to clean anything that's not slick plastic), so I specifically looked for boosters without straps. The one we have doesn't work with our chairs because they have a curved seat, so the booster can't suction on. We use it anyway, but I'd caution anyone looking at it to make sure your sears are flat.
We use this for Mia and she loves it most of the time (http://www.amazon.com/Inglesina-Fast-Table-Chair-Navy/dp/B00IOGIOE6/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1413829759&sr=8-2-fkmr1&keywords=booster+chair+that+adheres+to+table):
This was our favorite baby item from about six months on. I kept it in a tote bag and brought it whenever we went out to eat. So much easier than trying to find restaurants with high chairs.
I'd completely forgotten about this! I wonder where ours is.
