Has anyone heard this story? A woman called 911 about her sister's high fever, 107 and they transferred her and she told that dispatcher that her sister has been in Africa and might have Ebola.

My first thought was, she needs to be fined. Where I live, the city at least, fines you if you falsely pull a fire alarm or call 911 under false pretenses.

I think pretty much everywhere has that. It's called "Misuse and abuse."

Can you imagine the tax dollars wasted sending a HazMat team and multiple ambulances to her? Holy hell. People are so upset about Obama getting a burger but it's these assholes they should yell at.

If her sister really had a 107 degree fever, her goose was cooked anyways...
And yeah, my brother is on a fire department here and complains about waste of resources all.the.time. I guess recently they brought a guy to the ER, only to get called to the same address an hour later. I guess the guy waited too long, got a ride home, and called the ambulance again to take him to a different ER...
I called 911 when Ava stopped breathing and started projectile vomiting everywhere. By the time they got here she was acting normal and I was so paranoid I was going to get in trouble. A cop even showed up to get a statement and I was like "I swear to God she stopped breathing. Seriously."
I can't imagine calling for a ride. Cannot imagine.
I called 911 once for DS1 (remember when he was spurting blood from his foot?) and by the time the ambulance got here I had the bleeding mostly under control because thankfully I know how to do that. I actually asked the paramedics if I did the right thing calling them because I felt silly. Turned out he hit an artery and ended up with several staples in his foot, but I felt like I overreacted because he wasn't really spurting when they showed up.

I worked in an ER for five years and this happens daily. Every. Day. If it's really busy people will leave after waiting too long and call 911 to arrive by ambulance because they think it will get them in a room quicker.
Don't they take you back based on severity? Like when I brought in my barely breathing baby, he trumped everyone in the place and went to the front of the line.
My point (and I actually have one) is that if you aren't severe enough to get to the front of the line, you certainly aren't severe enough to call for an ambulance and that won't help your case. Idiots.
