Right cna...I have very interesting conversations with my brother. Let's just say that his job skews him towards the "no skittles for poor people" way of thinking. That if they had to pay for it, maybe they wouldn't call unless it was a true emergency.
When I went to the urgent care because of heavy bleeding when pregnant with Jack (OB was out of town and nurse told me to go there), they told me I had to take an ambulance to the ER. I assume it was some sort of liability issue? Anyway, my husband beat me there and he was working an hour away.
That is just so wasteful! and expensive not to mention stupid. Did you know if the ambulance doesn't have it's siren going it isn't considered an "emergency" by some insurance companies and therefore you foot the bill?
The paramedics out here are pretty cool. They came to our moms club meeting last month. I had to miss it because of stupid HFM, but I guess they gave a little talk about what to do/expect to the moms and then let the kids check out the inside of the ambulance. The idea was to get them familiar with the ambulance and what the paramedics look like/do so it would hopefully be less scary if god forbid they ever had to go in one
See, I'm kind of on the opposite side of things. I think I'm always worried that I'm overreacting. Once the house next door to ours was vacant bc it was for sale and our other neighbor and I distinctly smelled gas coming from the house. So we called the fire department. I felt like such a tool for doing so, but that's what the gas company said we had to do. And then I kept apologizing to the firemen. And then there was the time I was home alone with the kids and some creeper climbed a ladder onto our deck after dark and was putzing around on my deck. My H was not happy when I called him instead of 911.

When my oldest had to be baby bused to the nearest NICU hospital 35 miles away our insurance didn't cover it, but when my 2 year old had an asthma attack and they sent us in an ambulance we never got a bill. It was to and from the same hospital.
What a waste of the EMTs time and resources. Add me to the list that hope they get charged.

I used to work as a receptionist at an ambulance co, I can not tell you how many people they sent to collection agencies because people weren't paying the ambulance bill. A majority of the time they weren't aware they'd have to pay. Our Accounts Payable person was up at the court house twice a week.
