I've only the first and 4th (Coven) of AHS. I thought the Asylm was frightening so I can assume this season is not for me?
How did you do with the first season?
Coven was an outlier. It had its creepy moments, but by the second half of the season, that season was all about fashion and attitude and double crosses and humor. I actually loved it hard (can we please discuss how hilarious Frances Conroy's character was?), but it wasn't typical. If Asylum scared you, this season probably will as well.
I don't think there have been any sexual encounters that weren't consensual yet. Evan Peters' character is a gigolo so it's the women having fun this time.
I loved the first season, but the second season was just too disturbing for me - too realistic, I think, the whole asylum thing - so I didn't watch the third. Should I watch this one or is it more like season 2?

there is a girl that jessica lange feeds drugs to that then fucks the freaks, so rape-lite.
Was this in the most recent episode? I haven't seen that one yet.
I don't remember this at all. I wonder if this was after I tuned out and started playing on my phone because I thought the premier was boring.
it was the "bad girl" candy striper elsa met right at the beginning. she then came out to the freak show, smoked the good shit and had all the crazy, freak sex. someone movied it and when she came out from the back, all drugged and sexed up, Elsa showed her the movie and was all "you liked it." and she did agree that she liked it. elsa then said that she could go be a shitty 50s housewife then.
OK, yes, I remember. That entire sequence was boring as hell, not least because the video made of her went on and on. And on. Clearly I've blocked it out for that reason. LOL
I'm not loving this season yet. And I don't really find Twisty that scary, just violent. Dandy, the rich boy, on the other hand? Creepy as shit.
He is unpredictable. One minute he gives you a toy robot and then BAM a head. And also when the mouth mask came off for half a second that was nASTY. I wonder if we will get to learn his back story.

So I was thinking that it looks like he has a case of phossy jaw but I'm not sure if the timeline adds up?
@majorwife - if I'm right and it is phossy jaw, the condition was eventually terminal but not immediately so
Eta: now that I think of it, it's quite possible that the backstory is that he was a kid in a match factory

Well if it was banned in 1906 and its now 1952...it could work. Child labor laws were codified nationally in the 1930s I believe - finally! - although many states had regulations back to the 1850s limiting the work day and setting minimum ages.
FYI for anyone interested, I caught this on Twitter the other day. If you are a horror fan, this entire piece, with all the accompanying videos and commentary, is extremely interesting, but scroll down to number 12 and you will see what appears to have been the inspiration for several of the characters in AHS this season. It was fun to see.
Bonus: you get a clip from The Descent (clip no. 13), which is one of the single most effective horror films I've ever seen. It's been years since I've seen it and I still think of it from time to time.

YEEESSSS. So good! H and I keep meaning to hike Ape Cave in its entirety (it's a section of a lava tube from an ancient Mt. St. Helens eruption), and honestly, this movie is the reason I don't push too hard to make it happen. We tried it once years ago (before I saw the movie), but realized immediately that our flashlights were not up to snuff and had to bail. This cave defines DARK. And while it's heavily used and requires no spelunking experience or gear (just really good light), I know I'll never be able to be in that cave again without thinking of this fucking movie and I'm afraid I'll have a panic attack somewhere in the middle of the two-mile trek.
