I have a world of respect for Malala and not much for Bristol.
But there is still something about this comparison that rubs me the wrong way. I think maybe it's the 3rd entry jumping right into defining the girls by how others see them (slut/secularist).
If you stacked me up against Malala I'd come across lacking, too, and I'm more than twice her age. I guess on the plus side I didn't try to sell a book about myself as though people would be interested in my mundane message?

I think that's exactly the point. Malala has something worth writing about. Bristol Palin does not. One memoir was a story that people were actually interested in hearing about, a story of actual struggles and accomplishments. The other was a clear attempt to milk some more fame and money out of something that never should have merited fame or money in the first place. Therefore I have no problem mocking it.
So, Bristol basically accused Levi of date rape? During the campaign, they made a big deal about how "yes, they made a mistake, but look, they're responsible young people," and now it was date rape?

you want to get me started, dont you? lol
they were both drinking, from what i remember. so no one can technically consent.
but from her background, she takes no responsibility for her sexuality. she all but says that she got raped but stopped just short. either it was rape and the choice was taken from her or she actively chose her sexual actions that night even when it ended up being a disappointment.
but the problem with girls coming from the AB-only crowd is that sexuality is never the girls to begin with. their fathers are in charge of keeping it until they pass it to their husbands on their wedding. never once do they consider their own sexuality something they can control and have agency over.
so this passively talking about her almost, kinda rape is par for the course.
The comments make more sense with the context that they'd been drinking, but by itself, it seemed to go beyond the "he broke through my considerable defenses" and into the "seriously, I have no idea what happened, hmm, seems suspicious."

Is AB-only abstinence only?
Yes
I was taught abstinence only at home (had sex ed at school), and they're not all about what you described. All the talks and classes we had that talked about it were very much about how it was our responsibility to make the best choices. So it might be how it's approached, but they're not all the same outlook.

Yes this! While this is humorous and I think Bristol Palon is a twit, I cannot get on board with the "best known for being a slut" comment. Like at all. Bc having a child out of wedlock as a teen defines you as a slut? I don't find that amusing.
I pity her child reading this as an adult and I pity her for feeling like she has to put on this show to excuse her having a child out of wedlock. Which doesn't make you a slut.

That's not what it said, though. It said "Accused of being...." not "best known for being."
