We eat a lot of rotisserie chicken. It's so easy and I get a 3 lb one at Sam's for $4.98.
I need to switch our cleaning products in the bathroom. I use vinegar and water in the kitchen. However I did just buy a new stainless steel cleaner for the kitchen.
Like you, mofongo, paper towels are a big one. That's probably my #1 least earth friendly habit. We use a LOT of paper towels up in hurr. I've slowly given up on many chemical-laden cleaning products, but I can't give up scrubbing bubbles toilet cleaner. I just can't wrap my head around cleaning the toilets with vinegar and them actually being clean.
I don't care what, I'll never give up toilet paper.
I buy bottled water fairly often. Sorry, Earth.
Oh, I meant that one ply stuff at Whole Foods, but family cloth (idea). Lol, NO.
Oh, tampons, I can't give them up either, I TRIED!!! My vagina just held on too tight, it wasn't a viable option. I buy a lot of Fiji, but their earth friendly, right? I recycle the plastic.
I try really hard to buy local, seasonal foods, but living in the northeast, I can't get certain foods I love locally and I just can't give them up. I buy avocados and bananas year round from god knows where and just keep my fingers crossed that the rest of my footprint makes up for it, lol.
In a similar vein, you can pry my AWD Subaru with not-so-great MPGs from my cold dead hands one winter. I make up for it by biking to work most of the rest of the year, but yea...it's not the greatest choice.
I gave up paper towels for awhile. I ruined all of my dish towels and had to buy new ones, not to mention the water wasted washing them all the time. Sorry, Mother Earth.
I do all the things that seem reasonable and convenient, and then I do what I want. As a family, we produce only one small plastic bag of trash per week. I recycle and compost as much as I can, and reduce packaging with my purchasing choices. I also buy a lot of coffee in paper cups, use a shitload of paper towel and disposable wipes, and drive a truck.
This is very impressive, and I'm jealous of your compost! I do most shopping online, other than food of course, and I do get upset about all of the packaging, it's out of control. I recycle it, but it's so wasteful.
Ugh, tell me about it. We have SO. MUCH. damn cardboard from recent purchases in our garage right now.
For the most part I am okay with the food, it is the paper products that I have not been able to give up.
Soft TP, Tampons, Paper Towels. I still have Baggies too. I haven't gotten around to the reusable ones. But, I did get the lunch blox stuff for the girls lunches.
I have found after switching up some of food habits, the food I used to eat isn't as good. . . .except for my Junior Mints. Those will always be good, especially with movie theater popcorn and a fountain Cherry Coke. It is my occasional treat.
There's a lot food wise I won't give up. Ever. We all gotta die of something.
I have found Whole Foods really has alternatives to most things, but not Bagel Bites! I've had a few mishaps, like the gluten free ginger bunnies, but I found regular ginger snaps that were really good. Sadly, they do not have Brach's Candy Corn (lol), and I'm not sure about marshmallows?? I need hot chocolate and marshmallow during the holidays.
Whole Foods sells marshmallows! It's one do the only places I can find vegetarian ones!

If WF doesn't have them, the co ops do. They have vegan ones. They are also dye free. Fun fact, marshmallows have blue dye in them to make them appear more white.

One of the great joys of my fall was walking into Whole Foods and seeing non-GMO candy corn. Lol.
I do what isn't a huge pain. That will vary for everyone. I cloth diaper, cloth nursing pads, diva cup, use cloth napkins, cloth rags/towels, but I also buy recycled paper towels for really gross messes. I compost then so it feels not as bad. I use recycled TP and Kleenex, and printing paper. But I still print a lot for work (I like working on paper especially when I am writing). I get a newspaper delivered. I buy organic eggs and chicken and whatever meat I can find at my grocery store. I don't go to a special store for organic. I try not to eat meat more than three times a week. I don't replace things unless they are broken. That kind if stuff.

Oooookay, you sweet, deluded fool. How are those Whole Foods Doritos treating you?
A lot. Tampons Toilet paper Cleaning products Disposable diapers Paper towels And a whole bunch of other stuff I can't think of. Basically the only thing I've done is buy a bunch of Kleen kanteens.
I like Coffeemate creamer. Fat free Vanilla Coffeemate.
this was a huge weakness for me too, for YEARS. like, forever.
but i recently switched to coffeemate bliss natural creamer. it's kinda much better. have you tried it? i get the vanilla flavored and it's ALMOST a match.
I have and I like it a lot. But our little neighborhood market doesn't stock it and I am rarely motivated enough to get in the car to drive to a bigger grocery store. Luckily I only drink the Coffeemate on weekends; during the week I stick with soy milk (arguably not much better) at work.

I've tried the natural bliss and I prefer the crappy, fake stuff. I don't even do the fat free. What's my problem?!

Bagel Bites? lol, that's so random
I don't feel horrible about paper towels. I don't use a ton of them, I really don't, and at least they are biodegradable. I feel much more guilty when I do a microwave meal with a one-time use plastic dish. That's just going to be around for a long time. Paper towels are at least renewable.
Fiji water makes no sense to me. I see no reason to pay to have water shipped from the other side of the globe. If you really must have bottled water, can it at least be from the US, if not your state?
I have never understood people with tp issues. I've used single ply scott tissue for years, because I don't have to buy it that often. A roll lasts a long time. Do I just not have a sensitive ass? I use toilet paper at other peoples houses and it's all thick and velvet like and... I don't need that. My ass is just not that delicate.
For the toilet (this really, really works): turn off the water, flush so the bowl empties, put duct tape over the holes on the inside rim, scrub with baking soda/vinegar, pour in a gallon of vinegar, let it sit overnight. This cleans out the inside stuff where the bacteria lives. Your toilet will stay cleaner much longer.

We have to keep dye free marshmallows on hand because DS can't have artificial colors. We don't have a whole foods, but Wal Mart sells the campfire ones, which are not vegan, but they are dye free.
