When you're running, do you look ahead, down, elsewhere?
Also, from looking at race pictures, have you discovered any weird running habits or form? It seems I cock my head slightly to the left when I run. Apparently I need to run in a brace or something.
The trails I run on are either paved or aren't super traitorous, so I've been focusing on keeping my head up and even when I do look down not looking directly down and being hunched over.

I look ahead and slightly down, so I can see the path in front of me, but I'm not looking straight down at my feet, if that makes sense. I'm looking about 10 feet ahead.
If I'm running in the dark with a headlamp, I look at the ground pretty closely, because my sphere of light is small and I don't want to trip on anything.
On training runs, I usually look at the backs of DH and another guy in our group. Keeps me motivated (they're usually about 30 sec ahead). On our long runs, however, we've been hitting the river section and bridges at sunrise, and then I force my self to look around. It's gorgeous, and more often than not, we see dolphin.
For races, I'll look around at the crowds, but I usually just look forward, and definitely stare at the backs in the final miles. I get through them by picking people off one by one.
I know from race pictures and from just checking in on my form at the end of long runs, that I tense my shoulders up and lean backwards when I get tired (both of which are counterproductive for pace). My last two long runs, I've tried to work on my forward lean.

I usually run in the city, so I'm constantly scanning. I look down for uneven sidewalks, straight ahead to see what is coming at me and then to the side to make sure I'm not going to get hit by a car

I usually look at the road just ahead of me, so not really down, but not all the way up/straight either. It also depends - if it's a rough section of road, I will look down to watch my step. I also like to look around and take in the scenery (or crowds, if it's a race).
I also have a weird thing I do with my hand when I run - not quite the claw, but still awkward - sometimes it's just my pinkie. This was the quickest picture I could find while I'm at work, but it happens a lot - unless I manage to have something (gloves/water bottle/etc) in my hand!
Just in front of me on the road. I don't look around much. Good thing I run with observant friends who alert me when there is a car, wildlife, etc.
Apparently I run with both of my thumbs up. I look super-cool, like the Fonz.
LOL! My attempt to stay loose, results in a claw on my left hand..

What's that in Chicago?? Oh yes, it's the claw!
Haha That claw is hilarious!
I also run with both of my thumbs up quite a bit, apparently. I know I wasn't giving the thumbs-up to random people at my last half but it sure looked like it!

I have a habit of looking down, and I clench my fits to. LOL When I start to get tired I start to look like I'm forming the letter O. LMFAO
However, when I run on the elliptical I have to close my eyes and zone out, if not I'm looking at everybody else, I'm looking at how much time I have left, or I'm looking to see if someone is on the machine I'm thinking about using next. I must look like a whack job to other people at the gym. LOL
