My H and I are considering going to NYC for Christmas. Our vacation time is limited due to my H starting a new job and we thought we would explore this as an option. We are looking at 12/24-12/28 and traveling from FL.
Is this a terrible idea? Are there any deals to be had? Any feedback or input is greatly appreciated!

Thanksgiving through New Years is a very pricey time to stay in NYC, so no deals. But it is fun to see the city all decorated. It gives you the Christmas spirit for sure.
I love New York at Christmas. I agree you won't find any deals - but it's such a fun time to be in the city. It will (probably) be freezing cold, and definitely insanely crowded. If it's in your budget and you want to see a show, going to the New York City Ballet Nutcracker is my favorite holiday thing, ever.

You guys should go. I live in Chicago (very "Christmasy") and would still love to be in NYC at least once in my life for Christmas. I follow the Kimpton Hotel deals pretty regularly and they have "stay 3+ nights and save" at Eventi. The rate that weekend starts at $271.20/nt and you get free wi-fi and a wine hour each evening. I think you need to sign up for Kimpton Rewards (free) to receive all of that but they don't send the annoying daily emails.
If you find airfare is expensive on 12/24, you might find some good deals if you are willing to fly on 12/25. I've flown on Christmas a couple times and love how not busy the airport is.

I second all of this! Kimpton hotels are consistently awesome in my experience, and that is a great deal for NYC.
If you can get a good deal on a hotel (I have not stayed at the Eventi, but Kimptons are great) and can deal with crowds, I would totally do it. It is a really cool time to be in New York.
I spent Christmas in the city a few years ago and it was dead. It was so strange to walk around on Christmas Eve without the mobs of people you would normally see. If I remember correctly, the hotel was very reasonable that night and there were hardly any other guests. I am guessing the additional days you want to stay would be more pricy. I love the holidays in NYC.

Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings are my favorite times in New York for that reason. The city is so quiet and peaceful then.
