DH just told me his little brother (he's almost 30) just called asking for money ($1500) so that he and his wife can move out of their rental apartment into a rental house. Oh hell no. They don't NEED to move. They just want to b/c they are sick of living in an apartment with a dog. Their lease is up end of this month and they just now figured out they need a bunch of money to move out and rent a new place. I'm surprised they were even approved for this new place b/c I know their credit is crap. I don't know when he'll learn he has to plan ahead for things. Hopefully us saying no will be some kind of motivation. Ugh.
The electric in our house is acting all weird - lights and outlets went out with no rhyme or reason, and no circuits were flipped. MH is home waiting on an electrician after we realized this is out of our realm of expertise/troubleshooting.
Here's hoping we don't have to drop a boat load of cash on this...but I am sure we will.
When I picked DD up last night from daycare she felt warm. I got her home and took her temp and it was 102. I decided to keep her home today, and she has been pretty happy, and her temp is down. The only thing is she won't eat more than a bite or 2. Which can only lead to a melt down. We will see what the day brings.
A random former coworker added me on Facebook out of the blue, 6 months after he deleted me. I am CONVINCED it is because he sells real estate on the side and saw my name on the sign in sheet at the open house I went to last weekend. Paranoid, party of one.
I think we found a band in our price range that has a great song list! This wedding might actually be fun, lol.
I think FI and I have decided on a honeymoon destination, Secrets Silversands south of Cancun. I was dismissive of our travel agent's suggestions for it, but the more research I do I'm thinking we'd get more for our money than elsewhere in the Caribbean. Help me pull the trigger.
H is getting a vasectomy next year. We are still trying to figure out if he should go on my insurance. I called his doctors office, and they told me they bill $850.75 to insurance. I'm flabbergasted that I got such a specific and informative answer!
I have to tell you guys some new gems from my in-laws, MIL specifically. Everything she said Sunday was a bucket of hilarious.
On why my niece doesn't work: "she's just not a physical person, I mean, it's a good job and stuff, but walking around isn't her thing."
On why my niece treats people like shit and then acts like nothing happened: "she has a bad memory, I bet she doesn't even remember all the different times you guys have helped her out."
On why we should give niece a car: "I know you bought her that other car and she never paid you for it, but you need to learn to forgive people. She means well."
On BIL losing his job after less than a week: "I don't know why his supervisors never like him, it's like no one wants to give him a chance, he yells when he gets frustrated, it's just what he does."

Kid 2 has informed us he is a kitten. He walks on all fours and will only eat his dinner on the ground. Here is a picture of him having a meow conversation with another cat
DH's coworker used to live near us. He's getting divorced, it's ugly. The wife is currently in the house, he moved to an apt.
A few weeks ago I happen to drive by their house and notice the wife having a yard sale.
Apparently the coworker asked DH for dates/times/details. I'm like no way am I getting involved and I don't even remember which day it was. I can narrow it down to 2 possible weekends, but otherwise I have no clue.

H's car started leaking oil, so we carpooled today. He had a 7am meeting, which meant he dropped me off at work at 6:15. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights so was working almost in the dark for an hour until someone else arrived and turned on the lights. Too early!!
One of my friends text me if DH and I were free for dinner on Saturday.
Nope. We will be watching the World Series. At home. With alcoholic beverages. BTW-they are always on their phone and/or ipad. Even during dinner and it is annoying and rude.
I am new to this board and so don't know any hostory, but I am side-eyeing the HELL out of your MIL and niece. I can't believe you were nice enough to give her even one car.

We have friends who do this whenever they come over.
We have another friend who'll go into a bedroom or lay on the couch, without saying anything, and go to sleep.

Poor DH was like "yep, we're going home now."
This makes me LOL! My parents are the same way with my brother. Its not his fault--its kind of yours/other person/whole world.
I was really excited to buy a house we looked at during the Parade of Homes--they are supposed to call today with the final answer. I'm kind of hoping they say no now, because I'm over it and we may have an even better option to go with.

Ha! My BIL's brother and all of his family (so DH's sister's husband and his family) can fall asleep anywhere. They do this all the time when we visit.

MH can do this, too ... he just conks out as soon as he's in a horizontal position. He did it once when we had company visiting (we were hanging out watching a movie) and he was mortified.
This friend makes it a point to lay down and go to sleep when they've had enough. Went in my spare bedroom once and shut the door and turned off the light, and didn't get up until their SO woke them. AND didn't make the bed afterward. Another time, took one of the back cushions off my couch and used it as a pillow and laid down. Once we were at another couple's house and this person was laying on their sofa and the hosts were sitting on the floor because there were no more seats left.

I feel so bad for my mom. She just flew 8 hours from Europe to Chicago and a girl got sick on the plane. They think it is because she is allergic to mayonnaise but everyone still has to sit on the plane until the CDC gets there. God help us if this happens anytime anyone needs to use an airsick bag on the plane.
I just had my orthopedic surgeon followup--I'm 4 weeks out from surgery, but he says my range of motion is more like 8 weeks. I'm doing so well I don't have to go to physical therapy--just keep working it myself like I have been. SCORE

DH's BFF's husband is like that. He's always on his phone. I started calling him out on it, I have no shame. I say "mark, please put your phone away." We had them over for dinner on Saturday, and DS chided them twice LOL. "No phone table!" (family rule, no phones at the dinner table) to Mark, and when DH's BFF got up to use the ladies room DS leaned over and whispered to me "she no say excuse me!"
-I hate waiting. Had my 3rd interview and it was a success despite me not wearing a suit. I've got a few job leads I'm following up on today.... All good & fit my requirements.
-Also, I have to testify against the car thief tomorrow. Blah.

Our house was doing this too, and it was actually due to a faulty line running from the pole to the house. Our electric company had to come out and fix it (which was free and easy for us). Maybe this is happening to you too?

Yes! That's what the electrician said. The power company did come out but we're not sure what they did - I have to call later to see if I can get more info.
I just received a phone call to ensure that I received an email. YES. I did, but I didn't drop everything and open it immediately.
I think she wanted me to open it while I was on the phone. It's not like its a present that I can't wait to get to; it's more work.
I have a client who does this all. the. time.
The best part of this was that she told me I would get it this AM at the latest. It was 2 PM when I asked for an update as to when I'd get it. Then she said "10 minutes".
Maybe she thought I was waiting around all morning for it?
