Does anyone have tips about transitioning from a bottle to a cup? My twin girls are eleven months old. They drink water from a cup happily, and have for a few months. They will not take milk from a cup at all. One sip and the cup is thrown to the floor. We are in the process of moving from formula to whole milk and it seems like a good time to make the switch to the cup. Any advice?

A sippy cup or an open cup?
If you are trying to transition to a sippy, I would buy the ones with the soft silicone spout first and try to transition that way. We gave C those style cups for about a month right around 11.5 months, one bottle at a time. Took away the bottle at 10:30am first, then the afternoon and finally bed. He will now drink milk out of anything but the take and toss cups, he only likes water from those.
For water, we have been using a cup with a straw because they both embraced those early on for water. Maybe that's the issue? Maybe a completely different cup will work better than what we've used for water. Hmmmmm.

I would say just don't stress about amount of milk and keep offering. It took my dd a long time to drink a bit of milk from a sippy and even now at 18 months she doesn't drink that much. Around a year she was mostly refusing it or spitting out. It is normal and will improve. We offer at meals only and she gets plenty of yogurt, smoothies, cheese etc. so I don't care.
I tend to make smaller transitions. Will they drink the milk from a bottle? I kept giving him bottles of milk for a month or so - and water from a cup.
This is all very helpful. I'm not going to worry too much, but I will also try a different kind of cup for milk vs water.
They do take regular milk mixed with formula right now and I am gradually moving to all milk. If that has to be from a bottle for a while and not a cup, so be it.
DS was always fine with water from a straw cup. We tried to transition milk at about 13 months and it was a disaster. Honestly we gave up. Then around 16 or 17 months his daycare teacher told us he started stealing the other kids' milk cups and drinking them. That night we packed all our bottles away and gave him milk in the straw cup and he was fine with it. So I guess my answer is we just waited until he was ready. We do water and milk in different cups like PP, so he always can tell what he's getting.
