So....you didn't ask this but I feel like I need to tell you that Adeline is in a full size bed but NEVER gets out of her bed. She just calls for us from her bed and we go get her. So it's like there's an invisible force field, I guess.
Edie too, kinda. She will come in our room and get us. No hanging out in her room or playing.

I put tubing around the cords and have it behind the tethered furniture. I think it's technically for TVs that are hung on the wall to hide the cords. It was cheap. It has a sticky side that attaches to the wall.

We ended up putting C2's mattress on the floor in her crib (unscrewed the bottom and set it on the floor) when she was 20 months and figured out how to climb out. She still can't climb out now.

I had been using the crib for very serious time outs but she escapes. There is a twin mattress next to her crib that I sit on to nurse her or lay on to hold her hand. However, she never climbs out in the motn or the morning. She always cries and is disorientated so I'm keeping her there. Both girls have fallen off my bed recently . H will continue using a rail for awhile.
I came home one day to find my husband had decided to take the side off of W's crib (he said they were watching Daniel Tiger and the show made him do it, lol). I was so mad at first, but after a few nights of W leaving his room without our permission, and walking him back in, he now just waits for us to come get him. He plays in his room a little sometimes, but it turned out much better than I expected. It will be ok if you do have to transition away from the crib.

I don't know if that makes you feel better.
We had the force field for a while. But she only really gets up in the morning

This is my plan in the event of an escape.
This is my worst nightmare right now, @tambcat ! Hugs.

We had a rough transition but now it's a force field over here, too. G hasn't gotten out of his bed in months. Just sits there and calls for me. So essentially he's in a queen sized crib.
I got some cord shorteners, I think you just wrap the excess cord in there so there isn't enough for strangling? I also bought cordless blinds and furniture anchors. Maybe two months ago. Haven't even taken anything out of the box
We must soon though because I need William out of my room.
What about the lamp. Is there a worry they could break a lamp and get glass everywhere then swallow a piece? I mean obviously there is a worry for me, a detailed one lol. But do I need to relax or do I need to take away the lamp completely
Also of course my other fear is she will climb into Williams bed and smother him. The angel care will just register business as usual...

This is what we did with Lincoln too.
You guys are geniuses. W is starting to climb out as well and I was about to resign myself to the toddler bed, but I may have to try this first.
@tambcat - I feel your pain. I am scared to death that W will escape in the middle of the night and I haven't even begun to baby proof his room. We've been talking to him over the last few days about a big boy bed and going back and forth between toddler bed and regular bed. If you just take off the rail, you could put a twin blow-up mattress next to the bed in case she rolls out.
