We have an invite for a party on the first and the girls are welcome to come. But, I would love to have a date night with the hubby. We always had free babysitting (family).

I used it to find a nanny. A little different than what you're looking for, but it worked really well. We LOVE our nanny and are so happy we found her.
We did a job posting w/ a picture of the boys as I had read that's what gets the best replies. We had maybe 30 or so people reply, many of whom I could tell right away weren't a good fit (some were still away at college when we needed the nanny to start). We phone interviewed 3 people and in-person interviewed 2 people, then chose one.
And gogreengowhite - I believe I did have to sign up for a monthly subscription in order to post a job listing. But I cancelled it after a bit since I didn't really need it for long.
trafficgirl I was thinking of a nanny also, because daycare is outrageous here.
I googled a bunch of nanny questions and info while we were searching - of course now I can't remember where I found anything. But there is a ton of info out there about how to find the best nanny for you. Checklists and questions to ask and such.
It was definitely a leap of faith to try someone out, but the people we interviewed all had background checks and I contacted references that checked out.
I know some people who they've had to go through one or two nannies before finding one that was a good fit, but we lucked out with ours. I cannot say enough good things about her.
ETA: I placed my own ad & paid for access to the background checks. I narrowed it down to the top 3 & met each one outside of my house. Then I picked the one that felt like the best fit.

Love it! You get a ton of replies which you can then narrow down. We usually interview 5 or so, then pick a main sitter and a few backups. Because the most responsible sitters are usually good students, we tend to lose them to busy class schedules and grad school, but it's an excellent service.
Yes. I placed an add a couple of years ago for a babysitter. I was very specific in what I wanted. I got at least 50 responses but was easily able to narrow it down. We've been using our sitter ever since and she is great. As soon as I found her I cancelled the monthly subscription so I didn't have to keep paying. I would use it again if needed.
We have found all the babysitters we've used through care.com. All the ones we've used have either been nannies who do babysitting at night and on weekends or college students. We've been really happy with the care.com babysitters we've used.
