Thursday night is my first 3 mile group run with my LRS. I am slow 11-11:30 minute miles and it doesn't matter the distance I have to have water with me because two medications I take cause horrible dry mouth and exercising makes it worse. Please tell me it will be okay and if you saw me running down the street with an iPhone exercise belt and nathan add on bottle on the belt you wouldn't laugh and think what the hell is she doing....
On the plus side they have fuel belts at the store that you can take out on a run to try and I may ask to try the nathan trail belt because now that I am getting up closer to 8 miles I would like a real belt since the add on bottle/holster floats around on the phone belt and because my phone isn't really secure in it because it wasn't made for strenuous activity like running.
I was worried too. Last week I did my first track workout with my running club and I was last every single time. Everyone was super supportive and nobody laughed at me! I was getting frustrated with myself, but it all turned out okay. You will be just fine!
You'll be fine! I've seen some strange things running. Including someone who was running with their dog (like literally carrying the dog). At Least you're out there!

Thanks everyone,. There are so many reasons I am nervous....another one is the store is in my old hometown so I keep thinking who the heck am I going to run into....lol. I have spoken with the owner and manager and they are awesome and keep reassuring me that I will okay. I think I just need to get over the first run and then hopefully I will be okay.

Have so much fun!!! I love my running group and met some great people thru it. I was slow at the beginning too but running with faster people makes you faster. You will make friends and have a great time!
I like getting to my workouts early so I can chit chat with people. The first few times I went to it was nice getting there early and getting my warm up and stretch in and talk to whoever was coordinating the run/workout.
Also do you know the route? Maybe driving it and knowing where you are going will help your nerves.
Noone will judge you, do what you need to do. I run with a handheld even for 5k's. It is nice knowing I have water if I need it and at this point it doesn't phase me or anything.
I understand how you feel.... I hate showing up alone and especially to an established group, but I promise you it will be good! I met one of my best running buddies through a group. You'll do great!

Tonight is the night! Of course I am exhausted so this should be interesting...and its really windy. The storm last night kept me up and we had a wire pulled down from the house from the pole in the street. We're still not sure what the wire is since we have power and cable, but the fire and police departments came there were a bunch of wires down. It was kind of eerie because we could see the fire truck coming down the street very slowly with their lights and spot lights on looking for damage.
I just saw/caught up on this thread, but let us know how it went! I have complete faith that you were just fine. We're so hard on ourselves. I hope you had a great time!

I didn't end up going:( I got home at 5:30 and found out we had no power. When the power company fixed the wire they fixed it to the house and left a note telling us we had to get an electrician to finish the rest and until then we'd have no power. It would of been nice if they had called because they fixed the wire at two and if I had known I needed an electrician I could of called him. By the time I called the electrician and he came over he found a plastic tubing and cooper wire that needs to be replaced so he can't do it until today because it was too dark. So instead of going running we ended up going out to dinner.
