I went in to get dinner (since R is out of town, I can do what I want) and while I was waiting for them to cook my panini, I decided to wander around.
Again, since R isn't here to stop me, I decided to pick up a box of lucky charms for breakfasts. I get some other stuff, head to the checkout, and the guy was all "bet the kids will love these!" (Grocery comments in general piss me off, but that's beside the point.)
After I said they were for me, the dude was all "Really? ::Side eye:: I didn't think adults like cereal that sugary. I mean, enjoy and all ..."
I am always surprised (not judging, just surprised) when people say they like Lucky Charms.
When I was a kid we talked my mom into getting Lucky Charms for us. We loved sugary cereal and loved marshmallows, so what could be better, right? We ate everything except the marshmallow pieces and asked that they never be bought again. lol

Sigh. I just like the marshmallows, ok???
Me too. I fully support your right to eat Lucky Charms marshmallows, free of ridicule.
I hate grocery store comments. I bought 5 pounds of chocolate and a bag of spinach at trader joes. The guy said "I know what you're doing when you get home". Baking, dude. And then eating spinach with eggs because yum.
I would have thought that he would have said 'I don't have a clue....' with that combination. And because of you, I am going to have a spinach omelet for lunch.
I tend to buy weird combinations when I go to the store and often the clerk will look confused. If I make a comment about the randomness of what I am buying, (because seeing it on the counter makes it look even weirder), the clerk will usually look relieved and say something about how they were trying to figure out what kind of meal had those components.
Oh, man. I once was at our store with the kids. They asked if we could get Booberry cerel. Sure, why not? It's halloween. Plus, they never eat much of their cereal. Well, I told them yes when I heard this hippy dippy woman behind me snort and I turned just in time to see the look she gave me. I promise you that my sugary cereal has a lot less sugar than the granola crap I saw in her cart. I so wish I would have said something. These people need to be stopped!
I buy sugar cereal 6 boxes at a time. At Menard's because it's cheapest there. H lives off of the stuff. Has eaten for breakfast everyday in the 10 years I've known the man.
No flames from me.
If Rubes wants it for breakfast I let her have it too. Whatever.

This is why I will never cure cancer...all the room in my head is taken up with stuff like, "Hey, I think I once saw a picture of a guy with a huge bag of Lucky Charms marshmallows..."

You guys are making me feel better, thanks!
The entire grocery purchase came out as: sushi, panini, box-o-wine, dog treats, lucky charms. Also, it was the ginormous box of lucky charms because for some reason it was the only size they had. So I can sort of understand the side-eye, but DAMN. Can't a girl just enjoy some marshmallows without judgment? LOL

Related? DH shamed me yesterday because I got Taco Bell for lunch. I've been thinking about it for weeks. It was disgusting and not kind to me. Not good sober I guess.
I'm afraid to try lucky charms now. What if they aren't as good as I remember them either??
WTF gives other people the right to shame you at the damn grocery store? NOTHING. I'm PMSy so easy to rage right now but seriously. I sometimes buy sugary cereals like that, I like to have them as my dessert after dinner sometimes. Weird, but so what.

... I buy coco krispies for myself ... they turn the milk chocolate! We also just bought a GIANT box of cinnamon toast crunch... for us and MAYBE the kid if she acts nice
I grew up on sugary cereals and still love them. I remember having just a bowl of marshmallows and then the rest of the box was just basically bland cereal (like AlphaBits). But Fruity Pebbles are my favorite and I do have a box in my cabinet!
