I would keep working with your new and past employer. That doesn't really sound right. If you are going from agency to agency can you qualify for FMLA. I think they would consider the state your employer for FMLA purposes (vs the specific agency. Or can you just start but then immediately take LWOP?
I might go to the ER again, you may need to be admitted. Did they check for Hep A and Hep B? No gallstones? I'm not trying to be alarmist, but I am surprised you're not in the hospital, those are concerning symptoms for something that needs to be diagnosed/treated asap.
I hope you feel better soon, definitely ask for a delayed start date, I'm sure you doctor would write a note. I'm sorry, how stressful.

I was also going to suggest gallstones. Is the pain near your sternum and then wraps around your right side, by your rib cage? How you're feeling reminds me of the pain I had when I had gallstones and one got stuck in the duct. I became jaundice and was admitted, and then taken by ambulance to another hospital that could do a procedure where they push the stone out of the duct.

Have your docs considered Wilson's disease? I know it's rare but my cousin was diagnosed with it 5 years ago and had a liver transplant, so it's what came to my mind. Good luck.
A small update. I went talk to hr in person today at the new job. No way to take time off at the beginning. But, I talked to my dr extensively this morning. He really thinks it's all being caused by spironolactone, which I started taking a month ago for pcos. It's prescribed by my gyn, so he didn't realize it was new. I quit taking that and he gave me a new med to help my liver. He said that yes, I need to get in to see a GI, but it's not at permanent damage level yet. He will keep monitoring me until I get in. I called the GI and he can't see me any sooner, but promised it's not that urgent. I am feeling sons better and my uneducated opinion is that I'm less yellow.
That is a good update! I'm sorry that you can't push back the start date but glad that you are feeling better. Hopefully the new meds will continue to work and the GI doc will be able to give you good news.

This is good news. I know when DS was jaundiced that it can take a while for the yellow to go away even when levels are normal. I can't believe your agency is being so strict though, that is frustrating.
