They just got a new puppy and they named him Charlie. It's on our boy name list and she knows this. I even told her not to name him that. Seriously, out of all the names. Grrr!
So our first dog was named Benji when we adopted him. BIL & SIL were pissed and wanted us to change his name without informing us why. Well it turns out they named their child Benjamin. Well Ben is 8 and Benji died over 5 years ago. The dog and child were never in the same room together so he didn't get confused when we called his name (SIL stated this was a reason after her child was born). Looking back we thought it was silly of them to be pissed off, they never met the dog because they don't travel, we are 100 miles away. We currently have a Joey, Joseph when he's bad. Now granted, we never named our dogs, just kept the name they received in the rescue. But as Dahli said dogs don't have a long lifetime.

I would also still use it for a person.
I have a friend who had a dog with his ex and then used that name for his daughter with his wife. The dog is gone (with the ex) and no one remembers. The name is shared with the princess that every little girl will dress up as this Halloween.
Dogs don't live forever. People will forget. Maybe your sister won't forget but YOLO YOLO YOLO!!!!!!

She said my nephew is the one who named him. I mentioned it to my parents tomorrow and she brought up that I have a white trash uncle with the first name Charles and his son is Charles too. Yeah, Charles would be his proper name but we would never call him that. Ugh, I better have a girl. Lol.
