One of my cats is recovering from having a couple teeth pulled yesterday. Between last week's exam + antibiotics to clear up an infection and then yesterday's surgery, the whole thing cost $1,700. I made sure to tell him that he's now our most expensive kittie, lol.
I'm really happy to see that he's recovering well. Yesterday I was worried that something would go wrong. Aside from having a decreased appetite, he's acting pretty normal and happy.

So we're having AEs visit next Friday to celebrate the holiday yes? Seriously if anyone tries anything like Megan you know who. The one that spreads lies and misinformation...permanent exile to the corner! There's a few of you who'd do it to. You know you would. It would be like summoning evil spirits.

Facilities management hasn't turned on our heat yet in the lab. The high today is only supposed to be in the 40s, and it's freezing in here. I have a turtleneck and a wool sweater on and I'm chilly.
Someday I aspire to work in a building with properly functioning heat and AC. Someplace where the indoor temperature isn't 90 in the summer and 50 in the winter. Lofty goals.

That's crazy. Shouldn't they just have an HVAC system programmed to keep the temp at a steady level, like 65?

In theory, yes. I don't know why our system is so wonky. I do know that every time the power goes out it resets the entire temperature control system. And things break A LOT. And they tell us the parts are hard to order. But basically the standard response when we complain is that it's an old building and they just do the best they can.
It's my birthday. My BFF made cupcakes and will be bringing them over. They are my favorite part of my birthday every year.
Other than that I am feeling kind of blah about it. I feel too old to be starting over. My mom did at this age too and it turned out great for her. I guess I'm just remembering the anxiety she felt on this birthday and feeling it too.

I was just going to make the exact same post. I am actually drinking lots of coffee just to stay warm, but that also means I'm peeing more...in the COLD AS FUCK bathroom.

Happy Day, ajj! Here's a quote to embrace your changing life...

Thank you. I'm tearing up reading that. It is perfect.
I came home to a soaked carpet of slobber and blood. My dog, apparently, chewed the wires on the crate.
I'm so sad for him, and am not sure what to do. Looks like doggy xanax is the next step.
Oh no! Poor doggy!
I know. I feel awful for him. He really hates our new place.
We've tried leaving him out with mixed success. I did on Monday, and came home to a mess, but the previous two times we left him, he was okay, so I thought it'd be okay again. I was wrong.

That is so hard! I had a cat do that once with a move. Then I felt like I was torturing her when I tried to get her to take the kitty Prozac. She would foam at the mouth and everything. It took her so long to adjust.
