Is the Denver Marriott City Center close to everything that drew us to this city? I saw the Hyatt, but the Marriott is very generous with group/travel agent rates and with upgrades.
That Marriott is in the heart of downtown. Downtown has some shopping, but not a ton, but lots of great restaurants. Cherry Creek area has a JW and there is a large mall, good restaurants and a section called Cherry Creek North that has lots of local boutiques.
@blonde407 agree with watermelon. Downtown dowsnt have the best shopping. You can't beat cherry creek for location, shopping, and restaurants. I would look for zip codes 80206/80209/80210. There's a hilton on Colorado blvd that just opened and looks really nice. Also a huge holiday inn (like a hotel, not the motel we would think of) that's a little closer to cherry creek. There's also the cherry creek inn and the JW Marriott. I'm partial to the JW because I got married there! But they have the best location by far. Just a bit pricey, however a great option if you're okay to share a room.
Haha. Then we will never make it. We drank wine with lunch. You think i fly without alcohol.
I am going to discuss with dh tonight. I feel like he will want to come too and I will have to tell.him no.
And I am totally voting we do some sort of brewery tour.
Yes!
I already got my gringachef - super awesome new house with amazing dressing room fabulousness booked.
I would be coming in midday on Friday, leaving Sunday the same.
I think Saturday breakfast (my obsession), then shopping and a fancy dinner that night would be cool. Maybe brewery tour and late night bite on Friday?
Feb 27-Mar 1 would probably be the best for me. jm1211 - wanna fly together? I'm not responsible enough to fly alone... I like to get drunk in airport and on airplanes lol. Found a roundtrip ticket/nonstop flight for Frontier (never heard of) for $255.
Let's do this! Sorry I was stuck in a conference for 3 days and I'm just catching up. I can't make any promises that I'd be a responsible, sober companion but if I'm not pg by then I'm down and we will be drunk together!
Looked up plane tickets for that weekend and I'd be looking at $420.00-$490.00 so, I could not fathom that for a couple of days. I'm sure if this is a success then we will plan another one and I will jump on board. Sounds like fun though!
I think we need to come to a consensus on location maybe?? I personally think downtown would be more fun to go out at night (more walkable, all the breweries, good restaurants), but Cherry Creek (great shopping and restaurants) is really nice too and not too far from Downtown.
Downtown there are lots of hotel options- Magnolia, Hotel Teatro, Grand Hyatt, The Curtis, Hotel Monaco, Westin, Hyatt Regency, Brown Palace. There are also cheaper options if we want to go that route like Marriott, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Sheraton Inn.
Holy crap, this is so exciting! I'm super bummed that joanis018 can't make that weekend though. I would offer my own guest rooms as well but keep in mind that I'm about 30 minutes from downtown, only 20 from the airport though. I will also have a 5, 4 and 1 year old... and I am not the worlds best hostess, meaning I don't really cook. haha! BUT if paying for a hotel is the breaking point for someone let me know and we can work it out!! I may also be able to arrange it with the hubs to be able to pick up at the airport depending on our agenda. Just keep it in mind ladies!!!
btw, @blonde407, you CRACK ME UP!
I'd be willing to take your guest room because I'm that kind of hostess too! Ithink that weekend could work. Perhaps, we could could kidnap gringachef to cook. I can reciprocate with kick as photo shoots and offer our guest room for getaways when we host backyard shows. I have 2 big names booked already. Plus, we'll be in a big city!

If I take the whole weekend off I won't be cooking...sorry! I'm perfectly happy going out to eat & relaxing as I don't do much of that normally.

i was totally kidding, but I would find some time for a mini shoot for you and Mini Gringachef. The list of who I have shot is getting impressive since in up to 3 Grammy winners as of last weekend.
FormerCityGirl- that's awesome- congrats! We would be honored to have our pics taken.
I really hope I can make it out there! We're hoping to put in an offer on house #4 tonight. You'd love this place. It's insane. Reclaimed wood, brushed bamboo floors, and a historic district! I was shooting crazy pics the first time we were in it.
I posted recs up thread but for cherry creek area hotels I would look at the following- JW Marriott Cherry creek inn Hilton garden inn at city set (Colorado blvd) Holiday Inn Colorado blvd Fairfield inn & suites (I think that's what it is called. Across from target on virginia, it's a smaller hotel)
If I could swing both, I totally would. My brother gets married in March though so that already monopolizes one week for that month. Chicago is an easy yes for me though!
I'm in! Can we take this convo off GBCN to avoid lurkers and internet creepers?
Could a private group be made on Facebook be made? Then travel details could be posted like flights, hotel information and itinerary and not have to worry about creepers showing up lol
