I did my absolute best to give 100% to my current job, while looking around for other opportunities.
I knew it was time when I had a tremendous offer at a company that I was truly excited about.
It's been 3.5 years and I am thankful every day that I made the (terrifying, at the time) decision to leave. Especially when I run into my former co-workers. lol.
Is the promotion something you're interested in? Or something that you're "meh" about but it would be paid more? If you were paid more would you feel better about where you are?
Honestly, I'd stick it out for the promotion. It's easier to lateral into something at a similar level than it is to leave somewhere and get hired at a higher level.

I'm struggling with the same thing right now. I think I've decided to put feelers out and see what is out there, which is little in my area. But I guess it won't hurt.
For me, I used to be excited to come to work. I used to like what I did and see a future. Now, I feel like the dangle the promotion in front of me and it will never happen. The only thing holding me back is the flexibilty I have and the benefits.

I'm meh because I've done the job. But it helps me in terms of being more in charge of my future training opportunities and I finally get supervisory work on my resume officially.
I was in this position. I had been there too long, the work was fine, and I wanted to get into supervision (why?! lol) I ended up staying and working for another year or 2 before I finally said F this and took another supervisor position with another agency. That being said, it never hurts to check out your options. But, with the timeline being so short, I'd wait it out and see.
Me, personally, I'd be tempted to stick around for the promotion, especially since it could come so soon.
Like you, I've always known when my time was up in previous positions. If you get the promotion, would that change your future opportunities?
Ok, I would say that at least in my agency, the supervisory experience would be a HUGE plus, especially with your long-term career goals. I've been reviewing selections for a lot of higher-level positions, and the subject of supervisory experience comes up a lot.
Good luck! And feel free to PM me to discuss, since I'm slightly more familiar with how things might work for you.
