that's "f right off" for those that don't know the acronym
I just want to scream I am so frustrated that we don't have any answers for what is wrong with Toby. He's been seen by the vets in our office and the vet at the big pet hospital and all they can say is it might be this or this or this or this. Basically that it could be anything but only numerous (and expensive) tests will give us more answers. Meanwhile Chubbs is in pain and losing weight and breathing heavy and miserable and my heart is breaking into pieces.
He is back at our vet's now and we are running some of the non-invasive tests that the specialty vet recommended. We may try some steroids too...we've chosen not to do invasive tests that involve anesthesia so if we don't get answers from these tests or see improvement in his symptoms and bloodwork soon then we could be nearing a very difficult decision. Tyler and I don't even want to say it. FUCK ALL OF THIS. He is only 6 years old, he is my first baby and my snuggle buddy. He is my pug. Boopers doesn't really like me and has preffered Tyler from day 1. I hate this.
So please send thoughts, prayers, good vibes. Thanks for letting me spew all my feelings here. I've been holding it together the last few days but needed to let it out and I'm going to have a good cry now that DD is napping.
I am so sorry you're going through this. My thoughts are with Toby, you, and your family. I hope you get answers and there's a treatment to make him better. <3

I am so sorry. Don't you wish he could tell you what's wrong?? I really hope it's something that can be handled easily and he's home with you guys soon.
I'm sorry I went through something similar with my dog a few years ago and it took an internal med vet to figure out the problem after we had already been to the regular vet numerous times and spent lots of money. What are his symptoms? My dog ended up having "immune mediated poly arthritis" which I guess is rare and hard to diagnose.
he has two things going on, possibly related, possibly unrelated, that hasn't been determined:
-chronic diarrhea and the ultrasound showed that the bowels do look inflamed.
-respiratory distress. Chest xrays have shown that there is something in his lungs but they dont't know what it is. First thought was pneumonia, but 2 different oral antibiotics and IV antibiotics haven't had any effect on it.
his bloodwork was concerning. High white count, low red blood cell count, low protein numbers, and he is anemic.
the ultrasound today showed a small amount of free fluid in his abdomen but no visible masses or anything they can point to as the culprit for the above symptoms.
his demeanor is also very concerning. He went from being his perky self on Saturday with only a little heavy breathing to being lethargic, breathing heavy, and unable to drink. Today he is not eating either. He's lost 2 lbs over the last month and you can see his ribs.
they're like "it could be heart disease or cancer or irritable bowel or a fungus or addisons disease or this or that" really they have no clue.
I'm so very sorry. We went through something similar with our dog this spring/summer and it was both infuriating and heartbreaking not to have any answers. We spent over $8K on various tests and treatments at both our regular vet and the specialist vets, and never did find out exactly what was wrong.
I hope you get some answers soon and Chubbs is soon back to his normal self. I'll be thinking of you all, and sending virtual zombie hugs.

I'm so sorry. I hope you get answers soon.
We are going through this now. My dobie was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy after a ton of tests and "maybe this, maybe that, spend $$$ and maybe we'll figure it out." I've cried big, ugly tears over that dog. He's the first pet I've ever had and the thought of not having him in my life breaks my heart.
I'm so sorry pugz. We put our toby down last week that greatly prefered dh too. It was a hard decision and I hope you get some answers and don't have to make it. Hugs.
good report just now. He gobbled up dinner and is perkier than he was early. Walked around in the yard at the vet to go potty (the other day he insisted we carry him everywhere). I feel a bit better after hearing that. The ladies at the vet are definitely doting on him. She said he was doing the pug head tilt while we talked on the phone, probably knew we were talking about him since he kept hearing his name.
I'm going to go visit him in the morning and take him the Royals rally towel we bought him.

I'm so glad I accidentally clicked over here. SO sorry about your puggy:( Did you get the non-invasive results back from today? Did they start steroids?
Addison's was one of the considerations when PoBoy was recently sick. It's so scary:( Please keep us updated. ((hugs))
Not yet. Hopefully tomorrow but one is a 48hr test so not til friday. They have to send it to a lab in Indiana. They were trying to get a urine sample but he was being shy.
No steroids yet but depending on results i think that is the next step. We need to get the respiratory issues under control. Irritable bowel can be dealt with
