What age would you let your kid sleep in this? It is the same height at the Ikea Kura, or like 50'' bed but I like it way better. Problem is it can't be used as a low setting and then switched to the high setting. We will hopefully have to switch Ada out of the crib a few months after her 3rd birthday, but I feel like that is probably too young.

I probably woudln't start there right from the crib. Adeline has been in a full sized bed with no rails since July and I'd feel 100% confident she'd be OK in a loft bed with a rail. But if you start with a mattress on the floor just to see if she's OK, then I'd go for it. If that makes any sense.

What is the recommended age? I think bunk beds is 6, so I would think a loft bed would be the same.
I would mostly be concerned about the times she gets up in the MOTN and is all disoriented. I wouldn't want to add climbing down a ladder into that equation.
Yes Delaney is already in it. Straight from the crib. The only difference I see is that the Kura bed has a little more of an edge all the way around, minus the ladder because ikea mattresses are really thin. (But her bed is actually really comfy, I lay on it with her all the time)
She has fallen out once and hit her head on the carpet. She was reaching for a stuffed animal on the ground. She is very careful now and I trust her in it 100%. She knows not to reach over the edge.
She does not climb in and out on her own yet. The ladder is there but she's never used it. So we lift her in and out.
She sleeps really well in it. And on days she won't nap she plays up there with stuffed animals for 2 hours.

Manufacturer age is 4 for this one. I think it has a recommended lower age because it is shorter. The other loft beds and bunk beds at Ikea are over 70'' tall. I think the similiar Ikea version has a 5 year recommendation though.
Yes I'm not sure what we'll do about night time potty training but that thought is not even on my mind right now so we'll see..
Edie doesn't go at night unless she hasn't gone right before bed. So it might not be something you need to worry about. I never did any "training" though. I just went a few pull up packs past when she started waking up with dry ones and then just didn't buy any anymore.

I probably wouldn't feel comfortable until at least 5.
He sometimes falls backwards out of his toddler bed even with the railing on one side, so definitely not any time soon.
I didn't even think of this. Yeah, I am leaning towards 5-6 now too. Bummer. Maybe if the next kid stays in their crib until they are 5 I will get them this awesome bed lol.
Hahaha... No, this thread isn't making me feel judged or anything :/
It's okay, I feel confident in my decision. I think it's kid dependent. I have a few friends who I would not even consider their kids in this so maybe it's just because Laney isn't a daredevil and follows directions pretty well with this kind of stuff.

Don't feel judged! I often question myself after threads like these if I am too "breezy." Then I decide that I DGAF. Keep on doing what you are doing! Your kids are happy and healthy!

Lol thanks. Ya for just a second I was like "hmmm?" But then decided I'm totally fine with it

Don't feel judged at all! Like you said, it depends on the kid. D is a great listener and follows instructions really well. My child is a wild banshee who loves to do the opposite of what I tell him haha so obviously, so not ready for a bed like this.

I completely agree that it's a kid dependent decision. No one knows your child like you do. I'm "breezy" about C sprinting down busy city sidewalks because I know he'll stop at the intersection, and I never worried about cutting food for him because I knew he bites and chews carefully and isn't a gagger/choker. On the other hand, I couldn't put him in this bed right now because he would jump off of it without hesitation, likely after piling his pillows and stuffed animals as a higher launching pad, or try to do a flip off the edge after seeing an older kid do it.

Oh ya, Delaney definitely couldn't be near cars by herself. I totally get your point! I also wonder what I will do different with Rhys. For some reason I feel like I can already tell he would not do well in a bunk bed.. Guess we'll just have to see!
