I am taking a prospective client to lunch in Cambridge, MA next week. They are just east of MIT, in terms of geography (ETA: near Kendall Square). Walkable from them would be ideal. One of the members of their team is gluten-free and dairy-free, which I also need to be able to accommodate.
Any Boston area MMers have any suggestions for me?
There was a Boston restaurant thread recently and a lot of my suggestions were in Cambridge. I can't really say what the gluten and dairy free options are, but I figured I'd post them here anyway:
Aceituna www.aceitunacafe.com/ (this is a counter type place - but the food is really good and if you go you have to get the Knafa - they may call it something else - but it's shredded wheat with a sweet cheese and rosewater. Delicious!)
Damn, just checked, none of my favorites in that area do lunch. Can you ask them (or an assistant) if they have a favorite spot they'd like to go to?
Yeah, I ended up sending an email to the person I've been communicating with to set this up, suggesting a couple places that I was considering, but saying that in the absence of any of them specifically listing g-free menu items or mentioning the ability to do g-free versions, could she give me any suggestions/guidance, since I want to make sure everyone can enjoy. I'd hate to pick a place that the woman tried last week and was annoyed not to be able to eat anything, kwim?
I am used to accommodating dairy free and g-free (I have a bunch of friends who are) but it seems like in my city there are more restaurants that affirmatively say something on their website about "ask for our g-free menu" or some kind of symbol identifying a few menu items that are g-free.
All have good food, have some gluten free options, and are in Kendall but have different price points and how much of a sit down experience that you want. Oleana has fabulous food but is a bit of a walk. Hungry Mother has great food but isn't open for dinner. Amelia's is wonderful but specializes in pasta which isn't typically gluten free.

Clover is more like fast food.
Hungry mother is great; I also like Catalyst.
They are slightly further, but but Bondir is on of my favorite restaurants ever, and Oleana and Sarma are up there too. Worth a cab or one T stop to Central in my book.

HELMAND!!! OMG I love that place in B'more, and I went when we were in Cambridge and the food is equally good. I dream of their little pumpkin curry whatevers. I don't know where it is to other places in Cambridge, though.

It's close. It's less than a mile from the MIT campus. So definitely walkable.
I would do Legal Seafood's for a business lunch. It is good food, good service, right in Kendall and has a gluten free menu. I kind of feel like it is the safest option.

Legal is the safest but it's where everyone goes for business lunches. H has been there at least 50 times. if these clients get taken out a lot they might be sick of it.
